Okay. I'll try to be brief.

Most games handle the sniper scopes in a way where the mouse sensitivity is effectively decreased when you zoom in. I.e, when unzoomed and looking at a house facade, move your mouse 1 centimeter to your left and the sights will travel, for example, three meters to the left on the facade. When you zoom in and move your mouse 1 centimeter to your left, the distance the point of aim travels is much less, depending on the zoom. You guys follow?

What I'm suggesting is to make scoped rifle handle like in real life - the higher the power of the scope, the more emphasized every breath and twitch is, to make sniping just as hard as it should be. Your sight always moves the same distance, whether zoomed in or not. It ought to add some challenge to the sniper, and force them to use weapon support and sensible placement. And hey - it's realistic and immersive!

The things is is that mouse movements when looking through the scope (or any iron sights) aren't the same as mouse movements when running around. When you're moving around, your mouse movements are controlling your whole body, making gross movements, however when you're using a scope, the mouse movements translate into fine motor movements.

I do agree though that if you move using the WASD keys you should completely lose your sight picture, and don't forget ROHoS will have a full breathing system.

Have you ever looked through high-powered optics? Trust me when I say that it is no way near as easy as games and movies would make you believe - you could have a spotter-scope mounted on a stable tripod; if it has 10x magnification, every single miniscule nudge translates as an earthquake from hell in the lens, fine motor control or not.

Granted, the 4x(?)-powered scope of the Mauser won't be as severe, but it'll still keep people from using the sniper-class as a rifleman on steroids - firing from a standing position while unsupported is tough ****. With the new weapon collision/support-system (as I've understood it), you could reward cautious snipers who make an effort to provide accaurate fire from concealed/protected positions, while detracting the quick-scoping CoD-kiddies.

Why bother, the un-successful CoD sniper will just get annihilated whereas the caution sniper will live another day. Its the way of the jungle. Natural selection RO style if you will.

With the change of fov you automatically get a change somewhat of mouse speed. Aka moving the mouse 5 cm will result in the same movement of pixels on your screen at all times. I think this in general is the most user friendly even if it isn't fully realistic.

However I hope that when for instance resting your weapon or going into iron sight, that your actual mouse speed doesn't speed up or slow down. I've always been annoyed that resting my rifle at a sandbag makes me suddenly look around slower.

Actually I hope that in general users from an advanced config menu can alter different mouse speed settings:

- Mouse speed gain when rested
- Default look mouse speed
- Mouse speed when looking through iron-sight
- Mouse speed when looking through iron-sight in breathing/zoom mode
- Mouse speed when looking through a scope.
- snipe button mouse speed gain

* the snipe button, when hold will decrease the mouse speed for additional accuracy for that last pixel. This will be handy especially for newer players without elite hyper special gaming mouses. (This can already be bound through the user config files)

** gain in this case is a multiplication by a factor with the at that moment active mouse speed. So if your mouse speed gain when rested is 0.9 then the mouse speed will be 10% lower than what it is when not rested.

This way people can customize the mouse speed to their preferences. I think anything that can make aiming easier for players should be in the game. Especially as these days gaming mice allow you to change your mice's DPI on the fly, it would only be fair in my opinion if everybody could have full abilities to change their mouse speed even if they can't afford a super gaming mouse.

Another problem is not everybody has a gaming mouse with a high DPI. That would mean zoomed in, the smallest increment on my mouse movement would move feet in the scope. So if my target's head is between the two increments, I can't get that glorious head-shot.

This is all hypothetical, since I can't snipe worth crap.

So anyway, I've got a 40x scope on one of my rifles.

It ain't too difficult to make fine adjustments.

Just means your mouse sensitivity is too high. I don't have a gaming mouse either, I just keep the mouse sensitivity quite low so I can make incremental movements. I just have it on the lowest possible sensitivity where i can still turn 180

Hmm im not sure about this one. Realistic or not those of us who have payed the extra for a mouse with sensitivity adjustments will still get this effect whether intended or not...:D
