I really don't see why the realistic zoom feature gets all the hate. Its something that's unique to RO2 (for me at least) and provides a fun game mechanic. At the same time prevents a lot of running and gunning and makes focused (zoomed) players ridiculously easy to hit/flank.

Keeping everything the same as RO1 is stupid they at least tried to take what they thought was good and improve on it/add new features. They don't need to go the CoD route and release a new version of the same game over again. Stagnation in game-play isn't fun for anyone.

People don't like it because they stupidly think pixel hunting and burning out their eyesight for a soldier standing 100m away is "realistic".

In some ways, the guns being easier to shoot in HOS makes it work to your advantage, and your enemies advantage too. You die a lot more because of that. I remember in Ostfront with a bolt action, I had to rest just to take a shot because there would be so much sway that I wouldn't be able to get a good shot off unless I was rested. In HOS, it's not like that. It's a bit ridiculous in HOS you can hold your breathe even when your fatigued. And magical band aids are just ridiculous. You can bandage yourself multiple in a few seconds when your full of lead. After playing the game a lot more, I think I can see why people are disatisfied in ways. I think I'll hold off playing HOS for a while until they make it a more enjoyable experience. I'll Wait for DLC,custom maps, and mods. I'll be plenty busy playing Skyrim soon.

I guess some see it as a way of compensating for the fact that you're playing it through a monitor, and not with your eyeballs. If they took out, I wouldn't be upset really though.

To answer the question in the thread name:

Yes. Coders are working on bug fixes, the rest is working on the new content.

And yeah, the game has quite a few problems (I keep crashing all the time), but I think HoS is a nice game that will get better over time.

Loving RO2 despite a few issues that will eventually be fixed. I'm glad they released the game as it is instead of polishing it solo because it shows they want to see what the community wants for fixes/implementations. I played Ostfront for a very long time and I can see this game being alot better over time.

Fix the god damn pings.

If it takes pushing the max player count back down to 50 (which the game was designed around, see scoreboard on full server for proof), then so be it.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to play a game in a full server with a ping below 100.

You noticed you'd be releasing your game close to Battlefield 3, and like the unlocks, you thought pumping your player count up to 64 players would help you compete. Well you can't compete commercially with BF3, it was foolish to think that you could, so all unlocks have done is piss off loyal fans and all 64 players has done was turn the gameplay into a jumbled mess.

Normally I despise people who whine constantly, so consider that when I say I'm sick to death of this crap and at this point if I could get my money back, I would.

the zoom is not needed in ro , if anything a minimum amount of zoom would be fine , but the amount present in the game is completely rediculous and as a result changes the way the game plays away from what made ro1 special

Trust me when i say lack of zoom is better , during the early beta there was an in game option to turn the zoom almost off , and one notch above zero completely changes the way you play the game.

And since this is stalingrad the close quarters combat is pretty much ruined by the zoom.

No one uses the cover system because its not really needed to rest your weapon and running around ( changing position) is better than sit there like a duck with the ray rifles we have.

We need more weapon movement while you perform actions ( moving shooting) and recoil that moves your weapon abit random so you have to aim new everytime.........if you would need to rest your weapon the cover system would make sense

Pixel hunting for someone at 100m is not only ABSURD, it is also very hard on the eyes. RO1 has nothing but a bunch of Mr. Magoo people for eyesight.

So what, RO has turned into the game for old people?

Is that why we don't have weapon sway, because people don't want to hurt their wrists for compensating?

Is that why we don't have tactical game play, because they don't want to hurt their minds?

Get the **** over it, I have never played a game that uses zoom and was fun to play.

I had no problem killing people in RO1 from long distances.

I am tired of hearing people whine and cry because of UNREALISTIC features that make it easier for them to play a game.

If TWI wanted to simulate a person concentrating and focusing more, then they would have made your vision on the peripherals much weaker when zoomed.

The reason this game is failing is because of things like this in-game. TWI trying to make the game more like all the others, when in fact it will never compete with the other games on their playing fields. Stop trying to be like the rest, and go back to your niche roots where we wanted you to stay in the first place.

I have logged over 16 hours in BF3 already and I have had way more intense and tactically challenging moments than in any of my time in RO2.

Unrealistic like...a man sized figure being a pixel or two high at around 100m? LOL. Even at 300m a man sized target should be bigger than they seemed to be in RO1.

Do elaborate how BF3 is more "intense and tactically challenging" than RO2?

Guns don't kill, snipers cannot snipe due to ridiculous scope glint and you can toss medipacks everywhere to heal. It's RIDICULOUS.

bf3 .... "tactically challenging"... i don't know where to begin with that one.
Oh unless your definition of that is run, shoot, run shoot, get sniped by one of the 24 snipers out of 32 players in the map

TBF that actually sounds more fun than running round a compressed map space with an assualt spray gun.. :p

Play BF3, and you'll see how less fun it is. :) I used to love BF2, and it was actually a pretty "realistic" game, when compared to CoD, BC2, and BF3, and you had incredibly intense firefights that required tactics so you could survive.

BF3 is pretty much a step back in every way when compared to it. It's pretty much weapons that feel like BB's, snipers everywhere where there are no one-hit kills, where you run and gun everything, etc.

It is just so much of a disapointment, and I had very high hopes for it.

RO2 is pretty much the most enjoyable gaming experience I've had in the last few years, and tactical/realistic FPS wise, it's one of the best games out there. We complain about many features, but we forget the many great ones this game has.
