This is the first game I have bought in a long time that was obviously released way to early.
Problem is with developing and releasing a game is you can't just decide to say "Well actually, we think the game needs more time, give us another 6 months or so". Between the community clambering for the game, even asking TWI to release it regardless of bugs (and then doing complete 180's) and the logistics regarding the publisher and Steam, you can't push it back too far. The game could most certainly have been released later, but think of it this way, the game will likely be just as good 6 months down the track as it would have been on release if it had been released 6 months later, during which time we may have seen the community turn as acidic as it is at times now asking why it's taking so long, and on top of that we would'nt have had the game to play. It's wierd how simple people think it is.
If Tripwire simply had done a reloaded Ostfront with updated graphics and animations everything would have been fine but no we have to go for a CoD-MoH-BF hybrid.
I find that doubtful. If TWI had simply done a reskinned Ostfront there would have been just as much complaining form the community (although probably different members of it) about how "It's just the same" and "It's only doing what COD does", aside from that the rising costs of game development would have meant the remaining members of the Ostfront community who would've bought it wouldn't be able to cover the price without selling the game for atleast $100 US, and even then many Ostfront players wouldn't buy it because "It's just a reskinned version of what I already have yet more expensive". Guess what other series does that and yet people still buy, that's right; COD. And thankfully this community isn't like that community.
TWI effectively had to do something different for RO2, and that's what we got, something
different, not bad or goddamn awful, just
different. Does that mean you should like that? No, does it mean
I like every aspect of it? No, but I'd rather have RO2 than a reskinned Ostfront, especially because Ostfront still exists, and with so many people on the forums who don't like RO2, you should have a fair few people to play with on Ost while others play HoS.
The benefit of hindsight i guess

.
PS. Please don't read theis as beligerant or anything, thats not how I intended it to sound, the limitations of the medium and all that.
