Evening fellas,

I just played some rounds of RO and I was wondering when the next patch(es) are coming as there's ****in many to do still: hitdetection improvement, invincible AI soldiers, AI shooting through smoke (particularly tank mg is very annoying) just to name some few.

I really hope that Tripwire is going to do something pretty fast as there are still guys here who choose RO2 over BF3 but this won't last long if they don't see constant improvement on RO2.

regards
Emperor

I believe TWI is working on it but that the things you are talking about will not change in the next patch. I hope it will, but I dont think so.
TWI never bothered to change/fix the obvious annoyances quickly.

I don't play RO2 because i dislike the new run and gun mechanic were you weapon aims straight shortly after moving or how it goes back to the same point after each little recoil.

However BF3 is a big pile of boring **** i have to say, it looks nice but really its so simple and boring and ontop of that you got origin, i don't see it as real harm to RO2 because its much more fun and intense

So you see the hand holding territory game mode as more tactical than the huge open maps of BF3? - give me a break.

Anyway, I think it has already been decided that TWI are treating this game like they did their original - slowly changing and upgrading it. To bad the industry has changed a lot since they released RO1, and for some stupid reason, people now think when they buy something it should be a completed product and not a work in progress.

I have moved on, but still check these forums in the hope that they might realize that they are going in the wrong direction and do a 180, the more they try and make this game like all the other shooters, the less reasons their are to play it.

We should start buying line by line script with that mentality...

Back on the NES, SNES days we bought complete games, in the RO1 days we bought complete games for the most part. Now we buy games that are not even close to finished.

Well Tripwire should finally wake up and realize that they have to stop daydreaming as they have released a retail game about a month ago. This is no longer the RO Mod where people were happy that there was a team making something for free. People payed money this time (yes they did before for RO1) and they want to play a bug free game.

RO2 actually was a dream come true but now on second thought this dream isn't heaven it tends to be hell on more and more occasions. If Tripwire simply had done a reloaded Ostfront with updated graphics and animations everything would have been fine but no we have to go for a CoD-MoH-BF hybrid. It could have been rockin' but now it makes me stand up from my pc with a big feeling of hatred. This is not what I expect a game to be.

This is the first game I have bought in a long time that was obviously released way to early.
Problem is with developing and releasing a game is you can't just decide to say "Well actually, we think the game needs more time, give us another 6 months or so". Between the community clambering for the game, even asking TWI to release it regardless of bugs (and then doing complete 180's) and the logistics regarding the publisher and Steam, you can't push it back too far. The game could most certainly have been released later, but think of it this way, the game will likely be just as good 6 months down the track as it would have been on release if it had been released 6 months later, during which time we may have seen the community turn as acidic as it is at times now asking why it's taking so long, and on top of that we would'nt have had the game to play. It's wierd how simple people think it is.

If Tripwire simply had done a reloaded Ostfront with updated graphics and animations everything would have been fine but no we have to go for a CoD-MoH-BF hybrid.
I find that doubtful. If TWI had simply done a reskinned Ostfront there would have been just as much complaining form the community (although probably different members of it) about how "It's just the same" and "It's only doing what COD does", aside from that the rising costs of game development would have meant the remaining members of the Ostfront community who would've bought it wouldn't be able to cover the price without selling the game for atleast $100 US, and even then many Ostfront players wouldn't buy it because "It's just a reskinned version of what I already have yet more expensive". Guess what other series does that and yet people still buy, that's right; COD. And thankfully this community isn't like that community.
TWI effectively had to do something different for RO2, and that's what we got, something different, not bad or goddamn awful, just different. Does that mean you should like that? No, does it mean I like every aspect of it? No, but I'd rather have RO2 than a reskinned Ostfront, especially because Ostfront still exists, and with so many people on the forums who don't like RO2, you should have a fair few people to play with on Ost while others play HoS.
The benefit of hindsight i guess:rolleyes:.

PS. Please don't read theis as beligerant or anything, thats not how I intended it to sound, the limitations of the medium and all that.

I would have rather had a reskinned ostfront then what we currently have to be honest.

You rarely if ever have red orchestra moments in this new game.

what needs to go to get back on track?

-Zoom , realistic or unrealistic , this is the reason the game plays different.
-the grenade physics and throwing mechanics
-the prototype weapons that as far as the normal soldier is concerned NEVER EXISTED.
-Unlocks
-Broke *** tank gameplay and mechanics that were obviously not even tested.
-Dumbass cover system that nobody even uses as it offers no benifits to the player.

What can stay in the game
-Fluid and reactive movement system
-Tank interiors
-Sounds

Agreed
-the grenade physics and throwing mechanics
What's wrong with them?
-the prototype weapons that as far as the normal soldier is concerned NEVER EXISTED.
Agree to an extent (should be heroes only)
-Unlocks
Again, agree to an extent (should have an option to be set at 25 and should be more sidegradey)
-Broke *** tank gameplay and mechanics that were obviously not even tested.
Again, please explain.
-Dumbass cover system that nobody even uses as it offers no benifits to the player.
And on that one I think you're just wrong. I and others use it all the time. It means you can get back behind cover easily when bolting or reloading so you're not out in the open and it allows you to get closer to cover such as a low wall, as opposed to having your head exposed becouse you're not pressed up against it.

What can stay in the game
-Fluid and reactive movement system
-Tank interiors
-Sounds
Responses in bold.

I'm curious as to whether the grenades can be thrown the right distance. Wiki estimates the range of the Russian F1 as 30-45 metres, but it feels like it only travels 15 or 20.

The shrapnel ranges for all explosives are nerfed, of course. :p

no the eplosive damages are perfect

im refering to the throwing mechanics.

In ro1 you could almost put a grenade anywhere you wanted

in this game its like ..... the grenades decides depending on urgency when to completely **** up.

for example , i managed run through smoke on commisars and the first objective (the house) was FILLED with germans , i mean filled to the brim.

im on the right corner of the building and i turn the corner with a satchel charge and i am facing the window and throw it in , and MAGICALLY it bounces out like i didnt throw it right and it blows up and kills half my team.

this has happened countless times with grenades in similar situations.
