I'm a little guilty myself of being a bitter old rivet counter. Please don't misunderstand the realism freaks, I don't think many of us intend to give TW a hard way to go about historical accuracy. Bear in mind that TW is serving a badly underserved market (realistic, historical FPS) and for that reason people's imaginations are running wild. It's no mystery why the pressure on RO2 and TW is so heavy right now. The more information that comes out the more excited people get and the more they fantasize about the experience they want or expect. The nit picking is not out of spite, but it may be out of selfishness. I am guilty!

I think most of us following HoS are already satisfied that the game will be fantastic, a worthy successor to Ostfront. I think many of us just have that 'ultimate game' fantasy like every other gamer does. Some of us see the prospect of that fantasy coming true in Heroes of Stalingrad. :) That is why I think even though most of us are convinced we have found our gaming holy grail, we're inclined to hope for and beg for...even more. :p

I also noticed the negative waves.

I wasn't in the IRC, but here in the forums, is probably not so evident when you are used to the known trolls. But it must be heartbreaking when you are doing your job and not get enough appreciation.

I was expecting the "fact thread" to go boom, but its strangely quiet instead.

The vast majority of us are even more hyped than we were before (if that was even possible), so ignore the four vocal trolls who constantly bash everything everywhere, and just take from yesterday Sam's and TWB guys reactions to the game.

So many features.

So much for one game impossible.
Even for me, who has been following RO for pretty much EVER, I found myself thinking this as well. I mean, if they had announced all of these features 2 years ago before we knew what TWI's "next big project" was, I would have said they were crazy and were biting off waaaaay more than they could chew.

Clearly I'm wrong and it's amazing to see such an ambitious project come together, delayed betas and release dates withstanding ;). It's clear that Sam and the TWB guys were blown away by the game. I kind of laughed at Sam (ibleedv20) because he kind of seemed overwhelmed and didn't really know where to begin to describe the game! That's a good sign.

I do wish we would have had more information on what kind of unlocks there will be for the bolt action rifles.

I think extended mags are out of the question.. but maybe those removable sight hoods or something.

Are unlocks class specific so you only unlock stuff for the class you are currently playing as? If not it, isn't much of an issue if there isn't much to unlock for a specific class, but otherwise people will feel more forced into playing more limited classes.

Maybe riflemen can beside unlocking removable sight hoods have unlocks that doesn't involve the rifle and maybe can be used when playing other classes. For example rolling up the sleeves of your shirt...

That's a good point.

Perhaps the unlock for the rifleman class are the most basic, but also they affect you overall appearance.

That would be cool... but I am still curious!

It's not really that much about misunderstanding, but more about how often they can draw the line between what might be worth noting and simply ****picking for the sake of it.

Don't get me wrong, but once you start to pick something apart it opens a huge can of worms what can be referred as genuine ****picking, as there's plenty of stuff you could verbally rape in RO2 because they are blatantly inaccurate or downright anachronistic. As valid as they are as arguments about authencity (or even realism in some cases), we could keep going on to the point some people would be so proud and pleased if the game models suspenders correctly and how they effect trouser 'movement' under certain stances or positions, something which is barely visible under 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time... even when they are right about their argument.

It amazes me that some of the smaller details get people so hung up. Think about the important GAME CHANGING features that will be included... mantling and bullet penetration. That by itself is enough for me to go . I've prattled on about bullet penetration for a while (and not just because I want to say penetration either) because it so significantly changes tactics and gameplay. Tanks and MGs are going to be MUCH more feared as hiding behind a wooden fence or plaster wall is no longer going to provide a shield for fausters.

Yoshiro's story about his close quarter fight with Wilsonam where he plugged Alan through the wall, and saw him fall over in a near by window made me smile. Just that possibility has me excited.

...Also, the entry and exit wounds on bodies sounds awesome...

Trust these devs, they know what they're doing.

Great job, TWI.:)

My first thought when I heard the ppsh upgrade bit was "Why would you want to use it on semi auto?", but I guess it can be useful it certain situations.

Unfortunately, it is an Evil Lie. Yoshiro isn't allowed to shoot me. Ever again. Or I'll make him go to GDC and man the recruitment booth all through the Expo. Oh, wait... I already did that...

It really does! I hope it makes it in to the final version though. It's also nice to see at least someone appreciated this tidbit of info. I thought afterwards that I wasted a question on this because nobody else seemed to care about it. :D

Ability to turn off rankings on unranked servers...

Will competitive players always be forced to play at level 1 recruit, with rusty broken weaponry when rankings are turned off. Or will a server be able to select say that players can have say a PPSH with a drum.

I like the unlocks, I wonder if they will be an option, like when you unlocks drums can you still choose sticks?

The auto/semi auto does not really matter to me; I usually burst fire seeing as the rounds are not the most powerful.

The suppression system sounds good, allot more emotional not just physical and shaky cam.

Will material strengths deteriorate? As in the first few mg shots will weaken the brick and let bullets in or will it just block all of them because the material is to strong.

I'm going to do something I haven't done in years, and give the RO community hell...

My condolences over your loss.

Thank you for posting this. What you outline, combined with the frankly cruel comments here and in the IRC re: Sam's show, is making me seriously reconsider participation in these forums. Very, very uncool and unnecessary ad hominem attacks.

As I said post-show, I fear that the supercilious attitude seen here all too often, and the inevitable transfer of it to in-game personas, will be a great barrier to new players' interest in the game.

The 'club' may just end up a 'club' no one cares to join...

Ramm being mad.

I'm sorry about your loss Ramm.

But also i have a advice for you and i
say it with all the respect.

I know that when I or anybody of us have worked
hard and done something, all we need is the positive
feedback, which make us to remeber why we work.
But sadly that doesnt happen so often as we would like
to.

However often counterargument/whineing is just a
show of care. And i have a example for you.

Oki, so my friend got a pickup, which he had
tune up for year and then he pointed out that he
had drawn a tiger and will make it to heck of huge
sticker which he will attach to hood of pickup.

The tiger was really ugly, and i was allready sure
that it will ruin look of whole pick up. But because
i didnt really care about whole pick up, i said
"Yeah, looks cool, go on" And that what we do
when we dont really care.

But because we care quite much about RO2, we are
ready to counterargument, fight and shout in forum,
when we fear that game is going on to direction
we dont want to. So even that it is annoying
and sometimes even make you feel mad.

Try to still think it as a show of care.
