This game seriously starts to look like it's made for cod kids.

Its a game trying for a broader audience so TWI can make a profit and reinvest in new projects.

I realise this is extremely difficult thing to do.....find a realism server....jesus...

Nice to see some gameplay footage!

That said, I'm quite worried by many of the things I see -- mainly the silenced revolver. We all JOKED that this silencer should be in the game, and all came to an agreement that it would be totally silly to be featured in a realistic game about the battle of Stalingrad.

I'm not saying this all doesn't look impressive, and I like what I see (it still looks like RO), but there seems to be a disturbingly increased level of "fluff" in the game that just detracts from the experience.

Given the huge amount of said content, I'm not sure how viable it will be to have a server that will actually shut all this stuff off if we want it. Even as a hardcore RO fan, I am getting a tad bit of cold feet. Anyone feeling the same way at all?

Does the Mauser C96 remind anyone of Han Solo's pistol in Star Wars? That is the reason I have always loved that gun lol.

Great media release TWI and I hope for many more so that my insatiable thirst for RO:HOS can be temporarily be quenched.

p.s. Do there happen to be anymore beta keys lying around? ;)

You pretty much hit the nail on the head buddy.

That's why I'll either have to be part of the 20k beta, or wait and see how viable it is to switch it off and how many servers there are.

I really hope there will be low-ping and populated servers near me that disable all this..
Same. I'm willing to accept or put up with the occasional odd weapon here and there, like in RO1, but I'm getting rather disturbed that the entire game at every level appears to be jam-packed full of silly weapons that simply don't make any sense in the battle. I can put up with an assault rifle or a weird version of the MP40. But a silenced revolver?! C'mon guys, that makes literally no sense.

I don't mean to be a downer or ungrateful for this footage, it's just that it seems like we're just now starting to learn how very different this game is from RO1 in terms of content. I've always been open to TWI's decisions to include a few weapons here and there for "fun" sake, but now that I see the vast numbers of these features in the game, I'm concerned.

sort of.......
what gives me hope is looking at the folks in the closed beta, i have played with most of them at some stage, all hardcore 'RO nut jobs' to the bone:D

TWI need to turn a profit so hence the server 'options', get new guys in, keep the old guys happy.

If indeed it turns out codish, you may spank my *** and call me Felicity

Do not forget that we have a Countdown Mode, where the use of a silencer makes sense. This is a pure tactical mode and situations where 2v1 or 1v1 players are left will be perfectly normal. In that kind of a sutation i will gladly take the silencer.

I too agree that the silenced revolver got me too a bit worried, I don't really mind that much the rest of the weapons, but this does seem quite strange. In any game it seems strange tbh, not just RO2 :p

Still, I can ignore that one too, it's just a pistol that doesn't make that much sound, big deal. What scares me the most is the fact that we will get a squad/platoon full of people with different weapons and gadgets on them, like a couple of mg34's with the normal loadout, another with a double barrel and another with something else. This I don't like, not just a single weapons that I will probably ignore even if someone drops it.

Now that I think of it though, I would not say no to a sort of mechanism that allows the players to invest more points prior to a campaign map in a way of getting better upgrades for their weapons. I would love that, and it makes more sense to have a larger group of soldiers armed with similar equipement when a new shipment arrives.

On the other hand, having germans with l33t weapons in the middle of January is stupid...

I am still waiting though, after all it might just be that the build they had for showcasing was on purpose allowing the players to have any weapon they wanted. Or the premade classes were like that... for some reason...

SOLD !!!

... thats just what i was wanting to see ... a rotating spawn system and firefight game play

it has to be a rotating spawn system for TDM to work right. gets very old to spwan in the same place only to run to the front line and get killed by the same 3 campers

or even worse get pushed back into your spawn with nowhere else to spawn

for those that dont like the spawns .. dont play the firefight game mode
