I was just wondering if Tripwire were planning on adding new weapons?
And do we have to pay for the upcoming weapons (if they are planning on making them)?

Sorry if this is a stupid question or a duplicate thread, but I couldn't find anything similair.

They haven't said anything about making new weapons but in a recent RO related announcement (was yesterday, actually) they mentioned that they'd be doing a bit more KF over the summer (is that right?). What this could be, who knows? It could be just a couple of community maps and more necessary updates or it could be like the giant update from around summer 2009. Who knows? Fingers crossed!

Also, I honestly doubt we'd have to pay for them. We never have before and looking at TWI's policy where no player should miss out on core game content, we shouldn't have to pay at all.

To be honest, I'm quite skeptical about some of those weapons being in KF. I just don't feel like they actually fit. The modders did a very, very good job though and I'd be happy to see them in KF in terms of gameplay, I just don't like the actual appearance. I'm just an arsehole in that way.

Anyway, I haven't seen any updates on that minigun at all. I wonder how they're doing.

Not sure how how I feel about more guns other than a pistol or two you could swap for the m9. Perhaps the brute (with some tweaks) not that its a gun, but its this kind of content that brings more life to the game. If guns are to similar, over the top or dont fit in then its stupid to add them.

I'd like to see a few more guns make the cut, hell get a doom 3 sentry bot in, that mod rules, i want to see more servers with that one, but to the point, yeah i'd like more guns, I feel the "official" selection now is growing thin, things i'd alter:

- A new second tier shotgun (the hunting shotgun is weak, 2 shots to have to reload for that long, i mean come on)

- A tier 2 & 3 medic rifle, the MP7 again is too weak, yes your a medic, but when the clot hits the fan its like firing a BB gun at a fleshpound.

- Another tier 3 sharpshooter rifle, the crossbow just aint cutting it anymore

- New melee weapons, crowbar, kitchen mop, cattle prod, you know the basics that bring fun, you know you can see yourself batting a scrake away with a mop now and seeing a clot do the shakes after being lit up with the cattle prod, pure fun

- a new commando rifle, G36 or something, just something more than the same 3 machine guns

- Flamer needs a new flamer, give the guy the husks cannon (I know its already a mod, i saw the thread, but it aint official)

- New pistols, bring in a colt python or magnum revolver, everyone loves those beautys

- Demolitions need C4 they can control, instead of the pipe bomb which is touch activated, boy throws some C4, lets a bloat walk over it, Fleshy comes along, KABOOOM, flesh showa!



I mean those are just a few, it has so much potential, and thats just the weapons, I think i speak for all when we say more creatures to the mix plez, i love the costumes and new characters, but i can't rip them a new one (unless its a teamkill enabled server) but you get my drift.

If getting more specimens, weapons or gamemodes means I have to pay for it then by all means make me pay for it. Its cool that they are giving all these free updates BUT its mostly cosmetic/visual. I mean, most of the so called new maps have been community made so nothing new there, and stuff like the christmas specimens, also purely cosmetic upgrade. We need something that makes us want to play the game some more. I find it boring having to play the same damn waves that go the exact same way. At least randomize them a bit if a new gamemode is too much to ask.

I understand not wanting to add new weapons because that could cause some more balancing issues but anything else...

I dont want to sound like an ungrateful *** but Im just saying its starting to feel a little repeative after 500 or so hours :)

well, Commando weapons and zerker weapons shouldn't be added for show; TWI is a small company, and, unlike Valve, cannot code a bunch of near-identical weapons to flood the game with.

second tier shotty and Medirifle are both mods along with about 4 sniper mods and a husk canon mod. However, are these mods fit? Well, thats why are forums are here :)

We shouldn't put Hunter down so fast....but at the same time, when it comes to taking ideas apart, we are merciless. Don't take it personally (and remember, there is a nugget of goodness in every idea), its just that if we are going to take your ideas seriously, we need to really look at them close. To not treat someone's ideas as worthy of dissection is condescending (just as no one's ideas are above dissection), and I prefer to have my own posts treated the same as any newcomer.

You probably knew that already though :D

Why would I be joking, I'm confused, yeah a few of those items are for shizzles and giggles, but whats wrong with them, whats wrong with more content, Yeah i like what we have now, but everything in this world can be made better with the right magic.

I see nothing wrong with my ideas, im obviously oblivious to the elder teachings of Killing Floor.

Some ideas

So far agreed that most of the weapons here don't really add too much tactically (though they are all awesome efforts put in by the mod folks).

- Many other games have some manner of ballistic weapon that also fires grenades (i.e. via Call of Duty's noob tube). KF doesn't have any weapons that offer both ballistic AND explosive capability (though you get way more grenades in KF than CoD). I'm thinking a hybrid weapon that would be good for both higher-tier commandos and demos would work - something like the ACR or FAMAS with the grenade attachment built in. Commandos would get the ballistic perk benefits while demos would get explosive damage bonuses, but both classes could have a weapon that makes them more versatile in the other's area somewhat. Would probably need to be an upper-tier weapon with a decent amount of weight to ensure balance so that it doesn't necessarily become the 'standard' secondary weapon for everyone..

- I'm all for remotely detonated explosives like C4 - keep it balanced with pipes so that pipes still take 1-2 seconds to drop, whereas you might spend 5-7 seconds placing C4 on a wall or floor. This would allow for more strategic use of maps, but make players either set them up during trader time or take a risk doing it during a wave.

- Create a perk specifically for pistols and dual-wielding pistols. I find using a single pistol it's WAY simpler to line up headshots, and almost always just pick up extra pistols to sell. Having a damage / speed / jumping based perk might be a fun class to play as most classes tend to benefit more from hunkering down rather than wheeling around the maps. This might also allow for someone with this perk to access doors or weapon / ammo drops other players can't quite get to. On the other hand, a core mechanic of the game is to never be able to be in an area specimens can't physically reach you, so jumping higher may not be a viable option for most existing maps.

A 'Gunslinger' might be able to have a chance to cause stun damage to specimens, which would be a benefit in solo or team-based play.

I wouldn't mind a few new weapons. Maybe a more powerful but expensive medic rifle that you can afford in later waves, particularly for higher difficulties (that or just balance the normal medic rifle so it becomes stronger per level up of perk.)

The Chainsaw seems to only be useful against the Patriarch and on Solo mode...they COULD buff it, but I honestly don't play enough berserker to have an opinion on that.

Thats about all I can think of, I think there should only be as many weapons as is actually needed and gives more variety to gameplay with stuffing up the games balance (TF2 is already doing this....)

Somewhat agreed, but not with extraordinary firepower (a tad higher, sure, but not something outrageous), but i'd rather get new ways of healing with these weapons. Like Sammers' suggested Medic Shotgun, which uses a healing spray to heal with; less range, but more target healable in one "shot"

Rather slap a scope on the M14, then it would be a quite decent (The laser can be moved to any other weapon imo) tier 3 weapon.

Ummm... no. Each weapon needs some sort of purpose, and all of those would just be useless. Unless you want them as alternative skins for the already existing weapons,thus only being cosmetic changes, which im totally ok with. The only melee weapon i'd like to "add", is Dual Machetes. Especially if they (and the Fire Axe too :D) become throwable. Then they would actually be something cool and useful for the Berserker. It would be a better crowdclearer / ZED time extender than Katana, but weaker for hit and runs. Also a good Berserker levelling weapon / offperk backup weapon when money is more of an issue.

Random weapons FTL. A new mechanic with it, sure, like burst fire and an underslung grenade launcher, then we are talking. Otherwise, a simple Bullpup/AK/Scar alternative added? Pointless addition (in terms of production value) for TWI.

There is Ivan&Jack's Mk23, a middle ground between the 9mm and HC. That's basicly all that's needed (And imo, i would pehaps consider this weapon the alternative to give the M14's laser to instead!)

A revolver would sure be nice though! But then again, when i think of revolvers, i think of Halflife 1's revolver. I truly fell in love with it hehe... the sound... the power... OM NOM NOM! :rolleyes:

C4... no lol. But any other RC bomb which isn't as extremely powerful as that one, dunno really. Could work i guess, but not something for me personally, but it's a new style so.... sure?
