Just made up a story about the M7A3:
When the Horzine Corp. started it's experiments, they were hoping to achieve a new era of modern combat. However the specimen were unstable and hard to control. After an incident on the 22nd June in 2005, where a Fleshpound killed 5 scientists and 17 guards, 9mm pistols and 5.65mm assault rifles have proven to be ineffective. To prevent further incidents the Horzine Corp. did not abandon the project, but was working on a new weapon. The Horzine M7A3 was the result. It is a large caliber Assault rifle, built for immense stopping power and accuracy. Firing .416 Tungsten coated depleated uranium projectiles at high speed, the M7A3 can penetrate concrete walls without much projectile deformation. Due to its high recoil the fire rate had to be reduced to 200 rpm and it's internal parts had to be reenforced. The first damage tests on living specimen were terrifying. After a month every Horzine soldier was armed with the M7A3. Even though the Horzine Corp. was not able to put down the threat of the specimen in 2008. The high recoil and low mag capacity made the M7A3 ineffective against small specimen. The tungsten rounds were unmatched in penetration power, however lacked on projectile deformation damage. Lt. Mastersons squads could escape the Horzine outbreak, taking some M7A3's with them.
Due to its compatibility with Horzines healing dart system, the rifle soon became favored under combat medics. It's low magazine count still made it ineffective for Commando soldiers.
There are rumors however, that skilled medics were able to increase its magazine count to 30 rounds, which would make it a decent weapon.
It's highly armor piercing ammo turned out to have less damage then a standart 7.62mm Nato round, but much more penetration power.
Due to it's special ammo and low avaliability traders charged increadibly high amounts of money for ammo and the rifle itsself. This lead to a lack of good equiped combat medics and bad morale in the squads. To solve this problem the traders gave a high discount on the rifle for medics.
