We know they are adding some half tracks and light tanks to Ro2.

Does anyone know if they will add anything heavier, like the Panther, Tiger 1/2, and the :IS2:? I dont recall if i ever read anything that stated yes or no, maybe i missed it. Or is ro2 supposed to be light on vehicle gameplay and heavier on infantry? I have no preference ether way, i love ro any way i get it :D

Expansions I imagine would have them.
The community however would crucify you for wanting a panther in stalingrad.

Russians get a light tank...and the germans get a long barrel Panzer III.

Thanks tripwire, you've done it again.

anyone see a pattern starting to form? We might as well give them panthers, TWI has no problems bending history to give the germans an advantage

Panzer III Ausf. J - The hull was lengthened. Front armor increased to 50 mm plate. 482 produced in 1941.

Russian get what they had historically. Only thing that they should perhaps have gotten is the KV1 or 2... not sure how many of them were deployed in stalingrad?

Maybe the germans should have been given a short barrelled stugIII

P.S. Have you faced a Russian SMG yet?

there shouldnt be any tigers or panthers coming along until mods take off being stalingrad only, wonder how the new tanks will come about a new class or just an option in current classes ?? hope not otherwise nobody would use the P3 or t70 over p4s and t34..

I agree.
Would like to see them as a new class capable of good infantry support and light anti-tank.
The t70 and t34 made up most of what comprised Russian tank brigades at this time. The Russians were steering away from the KV-1 where possible at this stage iirc.... or upgrading them to be KV-1s.
The Germans primarily by this stage had MKIV and MKIII tanks. Its just that simple.

As for balance, the MKIII was not that great. But the russian t70 was very limited having a one man turret. The russians will probably just have more as in real life to make up for it.

Unless we want to talk tank destroyers or infantry support vehicles such as the stug their is not much else to tell.

I knew there wasnt later war stuff in Stalingrad, but i was just wondering if ro2 will "officially" remain as a Stalingrad only affair? If so thats fine, im sure mods will come out like has been stated.

I am mostly afraid of how having AT rifles will effect game play of tanks with even less armor than we have now. If the AT rifles already easily penetrate and kill occupants in t34s and pz4s, whats it going to be like in a pz3 or a t70? basically aim anywhere and get instant tank kill? I hope not...

Common misconception as far as the Pz3 is concerned. It was said that the Pz3 will be a J

Tankers will have to learn to work with infantry to protect them from AT rifles, and infantry will depend on tanks to protect them from enemy tanks. That's combined arms.

Also the tanks can massacre infantry, that's the main reason why they are feared.

I apologize for being a newb when it comes to the actual technical specs of the vehicles, i just assumed the pz3 would have less armor.

As far as the at rifles as they stand, i am assuming they will remain as is and wont be fixed. I think i read somewhere in here that ROOST tanking was borked and was not fixed til mods. I tried the other day shooting the front of a t34 with a at rifle and was suprized how easily i killed the tank with 1 clip. That just worried me, i want the gameplay with the half tracks and tanks to be fun as well as realistic.

Why would there be Panthers in Stalingrad?

Why would there be Panthers in Stalingrad?

What i meant by this thread was to wonder if they will expand the theatre outside Stalingrad or not. I know there was no Panthers in Stalingrad, although the Tiger 1 did come out in '42. I think the first use of them was North Africa if i am not mistaken though.
