Hello everyone.

I have a question; I am thinking of buying this game (Red Orchestra) but since it's pretty old, I doubt if there are still many people playing it.

So my question to you guys is; Are there still many people playing this? :p

Thanks in advance.

definitely buy RO.....it's really cheap and there's still enough servers filled on a daily basis to have a good time. will also get you a good look at what RO is all about in preperation for ROHOS's release early next year :)

and yes, DH still has a few filled servers from time to time........my personal suggestion is to buy RO, and PLAY RO first. it'd be more beneficial to fully experience RO before jumping straight into DH so that you can make more informed opinions of the game compared to this one particular mod. ;)

side note: these are the RO forums........let's show some support for RO and the RO community first?

It might be worth warning that RO does have rather steep, even somewhat punishing learning curve if you're new into such shooters. Triple this for DH due lack of (?) manual.

Ive played since the mod days, and while I have enjoyed it, I dont think it is worth buying anymore.

It is true that there are still players and you can likely find populated servers. But when the only servers being played are a "24/7 Danzig map" and "only large-scale tank maps" it isnt very fun. There are many great infantry maps that are ignored for no good reason.

So with that said, no, I dont think it is a good buy, unless youre only buying for the tank combat. Then yes, you should find servers with maps that will let you drive for days. The infantry combat on Danzig will grow stale after enough games, and you will wonder why there are no other maps being played.

I for one definitely disagree with Breadtruck. At the current price, you can not go wrong buying RO, and I think that his statements about what maps are played etc. are misleading. Consider all comments before making a decision. TWB*SlowBull

ignore the frustration of a mod vet.......the game can seem old for players that've played for years but that shouldn't stop people from giving it a try. if it took us 3-5 years to get bored of maps, new players should be ok for at least 6 or so months until ROHOS is finally out

Red Orchestra is a lot of game for the low price they charge now.

There are enough players - and you can play Darkest Hour too.

Buy it and you'll be in good practice for the next part coming out in 2011.

Depends on the day... depends on the day.

Most days I had found this to be true. So I had stopped playing.

Grab the game..... It'll prove to be the very best gaming investment you've ever made. On average, there's over one hundred servers out there all the time to choose from and many are continually populated.

All you can do is enjoy yourself for a paltry $10.00. This game is still worth the original price. It offers quality, enduring entertainment and value.

Some of the newer custom maps are amazing! They offer playability and visuals equal to, if not better, than today's "new" FPS games.

We play every day and average 4 -10 players per side.

RO is still "TOPS" in our book.

I have played COD and COD2 for years now and mainly only play crouch tactical.
Are there any crouch tactical servers out there for RO?

Is that where admins enforce people to only shoot from crouch or prone?

For the most part RO is a game where you will want to be crouched behind cover in most circumstances anyway. There are no public servers that have rules on how to play the game. If you do run around in a firefight your going to get picked off very quickly.

hey..i'm the n00bie. i JUST got the collector's edition yesterday after trying to get the free download off the Logitech Facebook page and failing.
it's a bit overwhelming at first but i'm gonna give it a shot.
i already belonged to Steam but i wanted all the extra stuff. i got these nice cards with all the vehicle specs, the maps and a DVD...oh and dogtags, lol
and Mare Nostrum and Darkest Hour. not a bad deal at all for $9.97 from some bookshop at Amazon as i've paid more for a lot less.

TWB euro servers are always full, so as long as your internet connection is decent there shouldn't be a problem playing on those

this game is generally playable up to 200 or 250 ping

The TWB Old Glory (USA) server is also, at times, busy, seems to come and go, worth a check when logging on, if you want a Western hemisphere server. TWB*SlowBull
