Now, instead of just throwing weapons on suggestion, We: The community, are going to suggest, debate, and choose a weapon from the ground up, from the cartridge choice, the weapon that would take the said cartridge, the class that the weapon would go to, and its point of use in game. This is so the staff of TWI will know what we want by estimating our choices and why we picked them.

First we will start with the cartridges. There will be three different line ups:

Pistols, rifles, and shotguns. the picture links below show a massive lineup of them and the number coordinating of what they are.

Pistol (P): http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Handgun-Cartridge-Lineup.jpg

Rifle (R): http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Rifle-Cartridge-Lineup.jpg

Shotgun (S): http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Shotshell-Comparison.jpg

To select a preferred cartridge select from either the pistol lineup (P), the rifle lineup (R), or the shotgun (S) lineup. And then select the number of which cartridge. You may also give an example that a common gun that would be chambered in this round, but is not necessary.

Example: (R)23 7.62X39 Ak47

Then you may give a reason why this cartridge would be preferred in the debate, be it that in realistic damage values would be balanced, or the availability in the game would suit the canon, or even how the gore side effective it produces, What ever the reason, explain why you picked this cartridge.

this debate may be long, as the cartridge will predefine the future weapon debate, which then will define the future debate of belonging to a class, which when we can debate on the stats and balance.

Cartridges that are already in the game include:

(Not shown in lineups)- 9X19 Parabellum: 9mm pistol
(P)44- .45ACP: MAC-10
(R)29/30- 5.56X45: Bullpup
(R)44- 7.62X51: SCAR/M14
(P)75- .44 Magnum: Handcannon
(R)23- 7.62X39: AK47
(P)64- 4.6X30: MP7M Medic Gun
(R)34- .30-30 Winchester: Lever Action Rifle
(S)12 Gauge: Shotgun/AA-12
(S)10 Gauge: Hunting Shotgun

(Also, enjoy the eye candy these pictures give you ;))

I don't... what?

I don't see what there wasn't to understand but.. Ok.

Basically the point of a ideas and suggestion forums was to get a accurate view of what people may want, but instead people are throwing things left and right, and if I was in TWI's position, I wouldn't know what the hell they would want, so, I thought that if chose from the ground up of what people may of wanted in a weapon, it would make TWI's job alot easier, and basically to start from that, we choose what type of gun we want, starting from the type of bullet. And the Reason why we choose from what cartridge is because there's a type of spectrum of the kind of guns associated with that chosen round that we would select, allowing us then to choose what gun we finally would want, and then we take it from there.

Hence the large selection of cartridges I posted.

I know what this looks like. I just joined onto the forum, and now I'm trying to sound intelligent. Damned if I don't try.

Anyway, the thought of a fourth tier of weapons strikes me as good. The M16 has been suggested to death, it seems, but since the Mk. 17 SCAR-H does its job, and we have all three "schticks" for Assault Rifles filled, what job could a fourth weapon do? We have the "More Dakka" Bullpup, the Middling Draco AK, and the High-damage, small-mag Mk17. I could see the HK416 as working - but it would be doing the same job as the AK. The only way to set a new weapon apart would be the use of an attachment, such as a grenade launcher. I'll have to say that such a thing would be better suited as its own weapon, requiring something that could mount it.

...But the only thing that can mount it is a Commando weapon. Which means that Commandos would mainly use it. Which means one perk doing another's job.

The only thing I could think of is a more combat-centric Medic gun - The UMP? MP5K? The Medic seems to be our SMG class - and they generally end up using everything *but* the MP7M in combat, basically being a gimped Commando, Sharpshooter, or even Beserker. I might even toss out that the Steyr AUG might be used as a "Medical Bullpup" of sorts, with stats sitting between the Bullpup Proper's and AK's. Alt fire is, naturally, the Medical needle-thingy.

Well, I will say that there is a degree of correlation, save for all three shotguns (which I assume are all 12-gauge). The Bullpup (5.56x45mm) does less damage than the AK (7.62x39mm), and the SCAR-H (7.62x51mm) does the most of the three. Also the Desert Eagle is clearly larger than the M9 Beretta, no contest. And undoubtedly the LAW has the hardest hit in the game (I estimate 84mm at least).

My question is: what do we need, that we don't already have? Aside from a more combat-capable Medic gun, though you can very easily use another perk's weapons (I still think that the MP5 or something should be there, though).

7.62x54mmR

Bolt-action, with a bent bolt handle

5 round magazine, reloaded via 5 round stripper clips.

Somewhere in the 3.45kg range, with a length of 1020mm and a barrel length of 510mm.

Of Russian and Belgian design, with a hyphenated name.

Possibly a side-mounted optical scope.

Does anyone know a rifle that fits this description?

Not gonna bother looking it up and i'm just gonna guess M48

As for this entire thread, realism is nice but alot of KF is surreal so that the game is balance. It's in an un-realistic enviroment, the weapons unrealisticly scale and change and the experiments performed on the specimens are some what far fetched. Who cares what calibre the LAR is, wouldn't you care more for how it shoots ingame?

rantmode...forgive me :( :

Endless insufferable discussions about weapons. First time modders will die of boredom when they visit these forums....or join the discussion and create their own jpg's (or steal them from internet) and make a wishlist of an entire new weapons set!! wooohooo!!!!

After that they will rip the weapons of other games and put them in killing floor, only to find out they need animations for it, which is too much trouble for them...so they just buy another game and do the same thing all over again....or start a modding group with a guy down the street and just make one terrible mod with every weaponmod-fail in the world represented and call it the OMG-MOD or something.

I have one word for it.

LAZY

rantmode off

sorry guys...I had to get it off my chest.. I dont actually mind weapon mods, if they are good with nice animations and stuff...and you can see that people did some good work and stuff... :( (here comes the bad rep I guess...lol)

aye, I'm afraid that approaching it from catridges/ammo first is probably not a good idea, but its worth a shot and definately unique.

Personally, I'd also be up for a similar idea where you actively search for possible roles that'd suit KF well, and then find a weapon based on that :)

Actually, I'll make a new thread for that, if you don't mind, and let you guys carry on here; I'm no gun-speaker, so for all I know this could be a stroke of brilliance here.
