new server problems

Hi

just posted this under the wrong forum so very sorry about that, if anyone is scratching their head with it, it's been a long day and I just click the wrong link. Doh

I have just setup a win 7 VM on hyper-v in a Datacentre in Edinburgh uk,

I have put in a Dual core cpu and 2GB of ram, we have effectively unlimited bandwidth.

the server seems to randomly have issue's, I had two users on it and had terrible problems with the game seeming to hang, where shooting didn't use bullets etc. we were on the same network using the same broadband the other person seemed to be better then me on it.

but then we tried again today and same thing with more people, even the trader count would hang and then start again moving you back to where you were when the clock stopped.

using the resource manager on the vm shows that it is not taxed and still has 1GB of ram available.

I would be willing to setup more servers if I can get this one working properly.

the reason I am not using Linux is that I don't have a lot of knowledge with it so feel more comfortable with windows.

any help would be very much appreciated

Hi

where are the logs that would be relevent? i can find a logs folder in the system folder for kfserver but all there is a connection log that doesn't seem very relevent.

the only other things i can see are some bits in the server console but i can find a file output of it.

there is an error that seems to happen when the trader loads, this is

playadmin sequence Hitf_dual9mm not found for mesh steampunk_sharpshooter

i have seen a similar error to this for other objects

once that said it deathf no found for mesh British_soldier1

does that help? if you let me know where i can get a log from with this in it i should be able to post more info

I would look to the servers firewall or the datacentres firewall, it could be blocking tranmissions every 5 secs etc.. which would cause the game to play contact catchup.

by default its the ucc.log

Those errors you listed are common, but sometimes you can have similar errors that will continue for quite some time which will cause some delay/lag etc.
