I'd say at least get a 5850, ATI has the best performance/cost cards. Nvidia 4 series are overpriced compared to ATI and 2 series are just too old to bother. Physx don't matter for %90 of the games out there. Otherwise good build.

I agree.

Don't get the Nvidia 2** series. ATI will likely be releasing a new video card series soon.

Why spend so much, when your card will be 2 generations old in few months?

I hate nvidia, I've had both nvidia and ATI, and I don't think I'll be going back to nvidia after I'm done with my current one.

A little update. I tried to burn a DVD with my Samsung DVD drive today, and it won't burn past 13MB or so before it quits.

Just in time for my move from Win 7. Guess I will have to wait another half a year or so. Not going to only rely on my extra hard drive for data.

So, like I said, avoid Samsung trash if possible. ;)

I've had an LG drive for 5 years now, it was cheap (30€ or so when I bought it) and all I can say is: WOW!

In those 5 years, it has never EVER failed to burn a DVD successfully or had any other problem.

BTW my burning software is "CDburnerXP" which is free and much lighter than that Nero BS

Hmm - actually I am wondering whether it's better to SLI a couple of 285's rather than get a 400-series
According to the asus site, if you go SLI with 285's you'll definitely want the 1000 watt P/S. According to their P/S calculator, one 285 (and a typical setup) will take a 400watt supply. Add another 285 and it jumps to 900... Unfortunately, they don't list 400 series nVidia. An ATI 5850 and your setup requires 650w.

Meaner than a mean machine.

Personally I'm not a fan of internal card readers, you are already up to Disk K.
But thats just me.

Awesome build Nestor. I don't see much use in dual graphics cards however, I would drop one.

I agree.

Save $300, and spend it next year. You will likely end up better performance then, plus more stability, likely less heat, power, and less room.

If you are running a large monitor, then that is different.

I foresee dual graphics cards becoming much more useful in the future. One day you will all put on you Darth Vader voices and say "It is as the emperor has foreseen."

Though you really have to rely on driver updates to keep up proper performance on newly released games.

Not that that is a great issue, assuming Ati/Nvidia ain't to slow at updates.

that is true, but that is the case with pretty much every game these days anyway. At least games on new engines.
