so far from home, for whatever reason, gives me a lotr vibe. seems like a "heroic last stand when the odds are against you" type of music

That's what happens when LOTR's composer and I both borrow from Wagner. ;) That particular track is VERY Wagnerian (wait till you hear the whole thing in-game or on the soundtrack album).

BTW, very happy to see everyone digging the music!

As I mentioned on Twitter, very much looking forward to hearing the full versions, and even more excited about hearing it in-game.

Just going to throw in my first impressions on the songs.

"Breaking Under Pavlov"
Very sweeping, moving track, yet it remains very subtle at the same time. Also if this isn't confirmation for Pavlov's house, well, then IDK... :)

"Our Pride, Our Fortress" This is the only track that didn't quite click with me right away. Dunno. I'm not saying I didn't like the music, it's just I just have trouble imagining shooting people to this:p ! But I'll try and stay open to it. Who knows, it could grow on me!

"Strength of the Blitzkrieg" I already feel like I'm winning just listening to this.

"Till the Bitter End" One of my personal favorites, and I really like the slow build of intensity throughout it. Great title too! It should definitely stick!

"Losing Ground" Does this remind anyone else of the Inferno faction in Heroes of Might and Magic? Couldn't shake that off for some reason. Like the tone of desperation in the music. This would definitely instill a sense of urgency when falling behind.

"Across the Steppe" Great title. Great music. Heard it before, but doesn't make me any less excited!

"So Far From Home"
Beautiful track. This one is probably my favorite overall. It has an incredible mix of sadness, yet amazingly, it is inspiring at the same time. How does that work?! Damn you Sam, you genius, you!

"Strong and Defiant"
Now this just feels like a parade! The battle is already won, I've already started writing my frau home as I nonchalantly MkB42 someone in the face, left handed, while sipping a cup of coffee and eating a slice of Strudel. Ah yes, home before Christmas. :D

"The Great Soviet Showpiece"
Nice and subdued, with a very fitting sombering effect. I would venture a guess and say that this is definitely one of the "neutral" tracks. It's a very calming. Really loving the contrast in the music so far!

"Into Winter's Grip" I will say this is a close second for me. Love the violin at the end, with the piano accompaniament. Really fantastic. Favorite of the non-choral pieces for sure.

"Alone in Solidarity" Way to throw one out of left field with this one! Totally unexpected. Truly haunting, and I absolutely LOVE it for that. Seriously, when I first heard it I had to crank up my volume because I could barely hear it, and then I was like, "Oh crap! This is brilliant".

So in short, I really, really, really like what I'm hearing. I will definitely be playing with this music cranked up! I actually had Sam's music running while playing the PAX Never surrender trailer, just to get a feel of how this might shape up, and it just feels right. It feels good. Thank you Sam!

I think most of the people agree with me that this will be the best soundtrack for best FPS world war 2 game so far.
It's the only soundtrack for the best FPS world war 2 game so far. So we really can't say, can we...:p

"Alone in Solidarity" is incredibly beautiful. Can't wait to hear more than 30 seconds of it.

Also I think RO2 should steal this piece and use it in game:

YouTube - Aniello Desiderio - Koyunbaba

(only 4th movement of a 4 part piece... the whole thing is great but the 4th movement is the most intense... the other 3 movements would be well suited for when the Russian side is losing)

Maybe Mr. Hulick could do some sort of guitar+orchestral arrangement of it? Or maybe a classical guitar "orchestra" for it. Like the Romeros (famous guitarists) did for Malaguena which can be played on one guitar of course:

YouTube - Malaguena. The Romeros

Or just have it played by a single classical guitar like it was written for... more subtle but still badass.

Sounds sensational Sam! I hope I'm not chewing all your bandwidth by leaving it on loop. :)

Ooh I love those last few bars of Bass and cello at the end The Great Soviet Showpiece and the strings in Breaking Under Pavlov. Love it all!!
