Wait, am I seriously the only one who thinks this is awesome? Its not so much the act of climbing a ladder, its just that these little touches of actually feeling like your climbing a ladder instead of magically flying up and down really add up to make a difference.

Instead of a game doing one such a thing in a good way, RO2 is gonna do a lot of those details in a very good way.

When did it differentiate them? I always recalled seeing those indicators as white arrows.

Initially TWI said it only showed enemy soldiers and i believe they said they were toying around with showing friendly soldiers with a different color.

Before you all ask, yes there will be a first person animation for climbing, however it is not finished yet.

That's great.

For me ladders have always been a problem in games. You keep falling off them. One of the few good ladder systems I've seen was Raven Shield's. You 'hook' onto them and are able to quickly slide down as well as climb the ladder in two different speeds. Impossible to fall off that way.
