It would seem that my Samsung Syncmaster 225bw has died and gone to monitor heaven. :(

Anyone have any suggestions for a good (not high end) monitor?
The only requirement is that it must be optimized for RO2 ;)

TIA,
Floyd

Gosh, I don't recall exactly how long I've had it.
It was one of the prizes my son won when he was playing CoD "professionally".
He quit that when he went to college. So I'll guess its about three years old or a little older.

Sometimes it won't turn on when I boot the computer.
I used to be able to turn it off and on until it finally stayed on.
Now its damn near impossible to get it on.
After getting it on, sometimes the screen will just go blank.

Those are some nice looking monitors.
I'd be more inclined to choose the first one, but only because of its 2ms response time. But I'll admit that I don't know if monitor response time has any real noticeable consequence at my stature in life.

The advertisements for low response times and high contrast ratios are marketing scam. All the cheapest TN panels are pretty much the same crap anyways. If I were you, I'd compare different monitors, check how people have rated them, and buy what fits your taste. I wouldn't buy a LED-monitor either, since they have bad backlight bleeding problems.

I bought a 22" ViewSonic VG2227wm for my parents. Cost 260e, but it seemed to have better features compared to the lower priced monitors and I haven't noticed anyone giving it a bad review.

I'm trying to stick with Samsung as they've always been really good. I'm using a 19" regular aspect monitor at the moment with my PC, the Syncmaster 225(mw) has a SCART and component in so I'm using that for TV/console primarily.

Tempted to treat myself to a big arse widescreen monitor for games...

my Samsung just died last week too after only 2 1/2 years....so I'm not sure I'd go back there.

I'm using my daughter's 1440x900 HP for now, and it's very nice. Excellent color and contrast, better than the Samsung IMO.

I've seen a few HP monitors around in various offices. The ones I've seen do have a great picture (from what I can tell with standard office type software).

In next month I'm going to buy this.

It is nice fullHD 24" TN LCD.
Pros:
- no input lag and ghost effect
- good colors and brightness (for TN)
- Pivot

Cons:
- built-in speakers, but who use that?
