And they have not finished yet..Yoshiro said somewhere they still have at least 3 other maps at various stages of design and campaign mode is on the way as well...Couple that with some great custom maps on the way and we will have even more playing choices in the near future..

I was going to complain about the lack of structures, and eyecandy on the map. Then I played it again, and got in the #1 rank spot.
First time I ever got #1, on any map.
Can't be all that bad
Was rocking so hard, I had absolutely no chance to really look around and admire the view.
TL : DR
Never judge a map by its screenshots, and first time playing.
Stock maps = largely meh bar a couple good ones like Red Oktober and Grain Elevator. Love the allies losing reinforcements, adds urgency to the battle.
Mamayev stands out though as it's more balanced than those two (No Germans ever attack from their right side, no Russians defend that side, but no one seems to even try to use the right / south side), brings longer ranges - which is all of the fun IMHO. No other game comes close to the thrill a simple bolt action can give me in this game. Mamayev is a bolt action feast, ranges from 35m to 200 are easily found, he who shoots best is he who will do best. I like it.

I've always loved the original nine infantry maps. I actually think they're some of the best maps to ship with a game - they play differently, are well balanced overall (moreso since the patch apparently) and they just seem very high quality. We can expect much larger maps later on when it comes to RO/DH-style tank maps, but I am certainly very happy with the stock maps.

I love the new map too, after playing it a little.
Especially the darker parts of the trenches, there's allot of atmosphere there...and I love how you can get almost anywhere without exposing yourself.
