new guns, rejoice guise :D

A spiked, or even spikeless flail would add something truly new and refreshing in the melee department. You could even "charge" the damage by holding down alt-fire to spin it overhead and gradually increase speed, or something. You could have it knock back/down large enemies or groups of small ones, at the cost of it being slow and cumbersome. I dunno, it would at least be different than yet another bladed weapon.

Incredibly hard to animate properly, and would look rather silly. Silly can be good (i.e. chainsaw), tolerable (DUAL DEAGLE BRAND DEAGLE), or terrible (flail).

It's perfectly doable. I can't really provide any examples, because there isn't anything like that in FPSes, but, the whip in Call of Juarez 2 was pretty natural-looking, and that's close, I guess...

Hey, you don't know until you try. It's just an idea, but as far as "silly" goes, it's pretty hard to outdo the katana...

And yeah, the DEAGLE BRAND DEAGLES are kinda rage-y, but that's mitigated by the epoch-long shot recovery and the low-capacity CLIPS.

truncheons and riot shields are oddly missing from this game. crowd control+ability to defend while in melee. plus the player characters are police. one even wears riot gear.

also, you guys talk about flails being hard to do. i would say a length of chain with a lock attached to one end would be easier to do/animate. and the silly factor goes right out the door.(is that the right expression?)

Right off the top of my head, without any searching... As far as popular shooters go, there's the Rainbow Six series, the Ghost Recon series, the STALKER series, the ArmA series, the Far Cry series, BF2, BF:V, the GTA series (not an FPS but a popular shooter nonetheless). I dunno , why don't you take a few seconds out of your busy schedule to find out for yourself? Oh, wait, that would disprove your ridiculously indefensible statement.

I dont see zombie games here

srsly, now tell me which FPS zombie game used AK47?

if you take such big section as FPS than we might as well use future weapons, since pretty much any worthwhile real life gun has been used in FPS already

Now that I look at this gun texture in first post... It looks like a Romanian SAR2, which is a romanian version of AK-47. Seems I missed that until now.

Ofh, dear, I just hope it will be named right... Or just an "Assault rifle". :)

Cheer up guys, it is a new gun, and not the "AK-47 that has been used so many times I can't stand it anymore" everyone is having their knickers in a twist about! :D

I'm not even an expert on firearms, I've just got a decent set of knowledge. But it's stuff like that where I don't know if they're kidding or trolling or whatever, and I genuinely want to know.

I did acknowledge that I screwed up 9 minutes before you posted that...

And if you really want something different for a melee weapon I'd like to see a halberd or some kind of polearm with more than arms length reach.

Speaking of new weapons, the texture package for the new weapons also includes these:

That would appear to be an M14 rifle of some sort and a pipe bomb.

Who cares? It's a game, I want to have fun and playing with the same content gets boring quick. TWI has made this for us to use and you just shoot it down like that? WTF man?

I really hope they just can these both. Once AKM is in, there is really no need for yet another assault rifle. Its only purpose would be to appeal to that tiny american "Bawwwwwwwww AK is a commie weapon we can't use that, we want M14 because it is American" minority.

Pipebomb... Well, I thought the Support Specialists grenades were powerful enough already. I mean, with the vastly increased grenade damage with support perk (who would probably be the most likely ones to get this), who actuallly NEEDS any pipe bombs?

Unless they are equipped with remote detonators, I am not really interested. :D
But if they did... GIEV PLZ! :D

Accept the fact that some people don't know as much as you.

Not knowing things is ok. Everyone is ignorant about something. I'm ignorant about sports, for instance.

However, there is something wrong with posting on forums acting like you do know something that you very clearly don't. I don't correct people and tell them that Michael Jordan got more touchdowns that anyone else in the Red Sox in 1967 or something similar, because I realize that I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to sports.

Once AKM is in, there is really no need for yet another assault rifle.

The M14 isn't an assault rifle. It's a battle rifle with full-auto capability. Yes, there is a rather significant difference. The main difference is that battle rifles used full-power rifle ammo, whereas assault rifles use shorter, less powerful rounds.

M14s are hard to control in full-auto do to high recoil (and high rate of fire). If it were modeled realistically in the game, it'd probably be used semi-auto most of the time--in fact, it wasn't uncommon to have them permanently set to semi-auto to avoid wasting ammo shooting at the sky.

So if the M14 was added, it'd probably serve the role of a semi-auto rifle and probably be an upgrade from the lever-action, not a replacement for an assault rifle (since it's not and assault rifle). If it does have full-auto capability, it should be set to semi-auto by default and have accurate high recoil, making it hard to control in full-auto.

Zombie Panic: Source and Zombie Master.

ORLY

zombie master has an AK?

last time I checkked (AKA yesterday) the onlyx autmatic thing was mac10

also these are both uncompleted ****ty MODS, not games

L4D has no AK, L4D2 has no AK, LotD has no AK

as far as I know there are no other known FPS zombie games, thus this means there is no AK in a single FPS zombie game

just cause its used in soviet games like stalker or in games like css and cod doesnt mean its overused

if anything is overused than its m16

but than again, you could say 9mms are overused (lol)

stop complaining

if you dislike it so much, dont use it, I will gladly bring mine to the fight

hey I hate katanas, but I dont complain since I can just leave it be, nobody forces you to use it
