I think it was kinda wierd for him to start the article in this way.
We had a spirited discussion about this in a conference call. Myself, I think the preamble is complimentary: this is not the typical dumbed-down game that the market has been releasing, it demands thoughtful play and thinking players. That's good in my book...

@HeyCarnut

I guess when you put it that way it makes sense. I guess the " if you don't like this you shouldn't get this game" kind of idea hit me hard. I feel like anyone could play red orchestra 2..... But it was obviously a very truthful and well written article.

How does that refusal order work?

Is it a way to tell your Squad Leader that you are not going to follow his order? Or is it a way of telling your squad mates to not follow it?

Also, I like the gradual destruction, I thought it would be a very simple "intact -> destroyed" system. I'm glad I was wrong.

Nice find! I had just found it and was about to post it here only to find that the other forum trolls managed to beat me to the punch.

I found this bit a little bit from the Gamespot article a little puzzling. Who teaches people to WRITE these days???

As the game's title suggests, it will take place in and around the city formerly known as Stalingrad, a city perhaps most infamous for the Battle of Stalingrad--a bloody World War II skirmish that is said to have incurred more than a million casualties.

Two problems:

1) Stalingrad is "perhaps most infamous"? Not only is that really bad sentence construction, but I can't imagine what else Stalingrad would be "infamous" for other than one of the most bloody and important battles of the entire war.

2) "Skirmish?" -- I really don't think that's the best word to describe the pure carnage of a million people dying in one place! I know I know I'm being a grammar Nazi, but REALLY? It's almost offensive to call Stalingrad a skirmish ... that's like calling the 2004 tsunami a "small flood".

Sorry I had to get that off my chest. On the whole, a very good article though!

I'd like to see if someone "disagrees" with an order you have the right to team kill them.

...and make him respawn without a weapon!

Haha. Yeah I wonder what that functionality is all about. Maybe if a SL gives impossible orders, ppl can get rid of him that way?

Nice, now a trailer or a teaser to go along with these publicity would be nice :)

I really want to see the destruction caught on video. If it really is how it was described on the article it would be awesome.

When i watched that video where they demo the destruction system on spartanovka by dropping arty on those wooden houses, i felt it was just a slap on feature because the destruction was instant(mesh swapping?) and not dynamic like in bc2.

Need some footage.. NAOW!

To me it sounds like it's supposed to be a gimmick or a humourous feature.

Squad Leader: "Capture the bridge!"

Rifleman: "Piss off!"
