Well, just to point something different this goes to point out how current copyright systems just don't work. Now it is certainly wrong not offer somekind of credit to orginal developer, but at the same time it is often inhibitive.
I mean if someone makes a good texture why not reuse it?
Or if fantasy writer wants to create a spell for the hero of the story, calling it neatly "magic missle"... well he can't because it's a registered trade mark.

Because every game would look the same and the original developers should be the ones who decide which game is allowed to use their stuff. And it's not like you can put a trademark on just everything you want to.

That type of system is already in practice, there are whole companys that just work on creating and selling high quality texture, sound, model packs etc.

The most widely know use of this was last year when people thought that GSC (stalker devs) stole content off of Doom or Valve and it turns out it was just a texture pack that they bought from some 3rd party.

I would imagine its quite good business too, I was speaking with my boss a week ago and he said that last year he spent

Apparently this game was released sometime in 2007, so while they may have made some money off of it, I hope they're sued for every last penny of it. The Wikipedia article lists a lot more games (and even films) that have had their content stolen by the developers of this game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbo_of_the_Lost

EDIT: Looking around various sites (Amazon, IGN etc.) all the positive reviews seem pretty fishy to me, it's likely the devs were even writing fake reviews to try and sell it.... and, from what I've read on various adventure gaming sites, this game wasn't a huge release, but it wasn't exactly small news either, it'd been fairly highly anticipated during it's development.

They have, they have been caught on a few forums trying to create hype for the game using multiple logins from the same computer, they would go and post something like "wow go look at this awesome game!", and then come in as "themselves" and say "wow i'm glad you liked it, it certainly is awesome isen't it?".

The best part is, when caught, they would defend themselves by saying "thats not true, that wasen't me, it was my daughter who posted on this computer aswell", as if that would really make it better :D
