Need UT2004 to play?!

My question is really simple.
need I to play KF ---> UT2004 or become it a Stand Alone Game?!

you would if you were to get the old 2.5 mod. but now its a STAND ALONE GAME ! besides, when the retail version comes out, i dont think any one will play 2.5
