Need some basic help with a new server.

Ok. Here's my problem. I just started a new server got in named and everything. However I can't seem to join the server. It just sits on the black F10 to cancel screen. I can join other servers from my provider out of the same data center though. I'm just trying to run stock maps no mods or uploaded maps. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do in order to join my own server?
I thought that each user already had the stock map files and no downloading is required.

Verify that your server is updated with the latest patch.

edit: If you're using gameservers.com, select Mods > Update from your control panel.

The problem was solved by gameservers. They didn't actually tell me what the problem was but they just fixed it.

The default built of gameservers is missing some files (dont ask me why). So you need to run hlds for it to get those files. The thing koba said would have fixed it as well.

I emailed them about it 2 months ago when i got a gameservers server for the heck of it since it was soo cheap. But i guess they dont take most emails serious .
