Open the Properties of your Zombievolume. ZombieVolume -> MinDistanceToPlayer.
Change it from 600 to 1 or so. This allow the Spawningvolume to Spawn Zeds. But make sure you cannot directly see the Zombievolume ingame.

you don't understand, the game specifically will not active a spawn if it has line of sight to the player. So if your map is one big room then zombies will not spawn. The idea is that players should never actually see monsters materialise from nowhere (though you do occasionally catch it).

You also need path nodes all over the place so the zombies have paths to get around your map. And jump spots to get from the upper level to the lower level. They will stand around 'stuck' if they don't know how to get to the player.
