I'm getting pretty good at the game if I do say so myself, but I'm having trouble.

How do I kite with any class other than medic or zerker, or support? I can't seem to do it with the other classes. I've been practicing a lot this week, I've practiced about 5 hours on normal westlondon maxplayers99, which has helped a lot.

How do I kite fp? I can get them about 25% of the time without raging them but I'm not really sure what I'm doing right or wrong. I can't seem to understand the fp mechanics post either.

What causes scrakes to rage?

And finnally what are the best loadouts for each class?

I have medic and sharp at 5, the rest except for firebug are 3, firebug is 2.

Zerk and Medic have the best speed bonuses and damage resistance to kite. Other classes are possible, but harder.

For the FP, you need to deal less than 500 dmg in 3 seconds or something like that. For zerker, that would be 1 alt fire with the axe, katana, or claymore sword. Just keep alt firing him every few second and you'll be fine.

For the scrake, once his HP goes below about 3/4, he will rage and will not stop.

And, I will list my favorite load outs for myself, for you. :D

1. Medic: This class, I just use what ever. I always carry an axe and at least 1 medic gun though.

2. Support Specialist: Any of the regular shotguns, and a hunting shotgun, then I'd carry either an axe or a katana. Maybe a MK23 if space and money allows. I rarely use the AA12 since I feel it lacks power and I expend all the ammunition quickly.

3. Sharpshooter: M14 with LAR. Or Crossbow with Handcannon. Rarely the M99, only to piss people off.

4. Commando: SCARMK17, paired with AK and katana usually. I also swap the katana with a MK23 on occasion.

5. Demolitions: M32, M79, I rarely use pipes, only for the defensive or for a pipe wall.

6. Firebug: I rarely play this, but I use flamer and mac 10.

7. Berzerker: I rarely play this once again, but the Katana is vital. Katana, Axe, Lever Action, cliche combo. I also used Claymore, but I never got good at it. The swings are ridiculously slow  Especially if you want to train, go for the katana. Claymore is for more advanced players.

Just some corollaries:
While the kiting (not doing 500 damage in under 3 seconds) will not set him off instantly, remember his rage timer will still keep ticking down from its random 10 to 15 second count. The only way to reset it is to break line of sight (like closing a door in his face) or to have him swing at you, which you can dodge of course.

Concerning Scrakes, they rage at 3/4 HP on Suicidal and HoE. On Hard and below, that threshold is 1/2 HP.

Ok so the best way to get rid of a scrake is to run from it and let someone stronger take him or either do enough damage to kill him without much damage on me. Got that.

If I have the katana, can I stun lock a scrake with alt fire on hard or below as any class other than berserker? What about suicide and HoE?

The m99 is supposed to be great but I have no luck getting headshots with it. Any tips?

Thank you :)

Only zerks can chain stun and chain flinch a scrake. I forget the exact numbers and stuff, but heres some basic tips

  • a zerk can chain "stun" a scrake on any difficulty, but can only chain flinch on anything thats less than suicidal
  • Level 6 zerks: Can chain stun scrakes with primary and Alt fire from fireaxe. This is from the front side and assuming its headshots. If you attack from the back, then its easier. You can do all of the above, plus you can alt fire the katana and I think even the claymore and chain stun him.
  • Level 5 zerks: Can chain flinch scrakes on anything below suicidal with the primary fire of the katana, and I think the same with an alt fire from the fire axe.
Also, as for dealing with scrakes if your by yourself as a zerk, make sure you give your plenty of room between the zeds and the scrake. If there are multiple scrakes, then try to stay far away, and use a LAR or something to agg one of them, and then just wait for it to run toward you. And finally, a simple all around tip with scrakes, is that unless your team is really close to you, then if a scrake is goring you, its best to et him do that, rather than run away, because his initial slash attack, does a high amount of damage, so its worth having him gore you, than running away and having him slash you.

Fleshpounds will rage if they take more than 360 points of damage within a two second period (remember that they have 50% resistance to the vast majority of weapons). Incidently, roughly a fleshpound takes a step every half second, so deal <360 damage, wait for him to take 5 steps, then hit him again.
They will also rage if they have line of sight to a player for more than 10-15 seconds (random number).

So if you want to take them with a non-zerker/medic class, you'll need to keep ducking around corners to break line of sight, and only hit them with small weapons infrequently so they don't take too much damage too quickly.

Scrakes will rage when they get to a certain % HPs, and will continue to rage until death (I think crisping them with fire might break their rage, but it's not a good strategy at all).

Generally, most kiters leave scrakes until the end of the wave to deal with, because assuming you don't rage them accidently, generally they're pretty harmless as long as you keep them at arms distance.

You can flinchlock scrakes with primary fire on Hard or below but only as bezerker (need the attack speed bonus I believe). On Suicidal+, you can only flinch scrakes once, so this obviously becomes impossible.

Just practise with the M99 ^_^ You'll get there.

My favourite classes to kite with are:
Sharpshooter (loadout = crossbow + katana + MK23. Crossbow is now uber as well and can take out fleshpounds without a problem even on HoE, but is also light, quick firing and ammo is plentiful enough to take out sirens. Katana is just an allround useful weapon when kiting, allowing you to kill things at short notice and move quickly. I'll generally have a melee weapon in my hand when kiting for speed, so katana makes this fun. Mk23, as much as I dislike it, is dead cheap, light, has a bunch of ammo and although the 9mm pops heads off real easily, the mk23 has just that bit more punch to kill zeds rather than decap them which is useful if you're aiming to run through where they are in a few seconds.)

Support specialist - (Pump shotgun, Hunting shotgun, EITHER machete + handcannon/M79 OR katana+Mk23 OR axe.
Pump shotgun is so ubiquitous and useful it's untrue. I love it to pieces, despite the new-fangled shotgun. Only trouble is, don't get caught with it empty.
Hunting shotgun is almost unparralleled at close range destruction. Especially because you never need to reload it. It can also 1shot scrakes with the right combo, and help you take FPs with the right combo.
A melee weapon is essential for killings crakes with the HSG combo. Size of melee weapon depends on how much dosh I have, whether a berserker will buy me a katana, or whether I'll use it outside the combo as well.
M79 is a lot of fun as well for taking crawlers and little things and generally having fun. Handcannon I now realise is probably outdated by the Mk23 (old loadout).

Berserkers normal and (IMHO) best loadout is katana/axe/LAR, allowing you to kill any zed in melee in the game, and the cheap and handy LAR lets you bodyshot crawlers and 2headshot husks and sirens.
An alternative is katana/axe/M79/Mk23. The Mk23 lets you 2shot bodyshot crawlers, although is a bit duff on sirens and husks, but the M79 I am really having fun with lately. Plus, if the map has a lot of doors, you can kill FPs really quickly with it, rather than using the axe.
Axe stuns scrakes on headshots at higher levels, and is used for killing FPs.

I don't play medic/commando, firebug has no real loadout combos (flamethrower+MAC10/katana I guess), and demo is a bad class to kite with.
My general demo loadout is M32/katana/MP7M to give me a CHANCE to kite though, along with being the ultimate support class 8D

Level 6 zerks: Can chain stun scrakes with primary and Alt fire from fireaxe.
Untrue. Primary axe swing does not do enough damage to hit the stun threshold (~667). You need alt fire from a level 5 axe or claymore. (Claymore does do more base damage, but it has a lower headshot multiplier).

I forgot the levels you need for backstabs.

HOE.
My kite zerk loadout is katana + xbow/m79.
But then you need to know how to kill scrakes with katana.

Basiqally you just stay out of their attack range and hit their head with your katana and when they rage (learn how many hits it takes for your difficulty and amount of players) you make sure you are far out enough to deal a alt hit to their head. This will flinch them. After that keep slashing its head with primary until they die. If you time it perfectly it will die when it wakes up. If you fail and it wakes up the best thing you can so is just keep attacking its head until it is dead. You will lose some health but you can heal it up quickly. It's chainsaw in guts drill is weak so no worries. If you try to run away he will hit you with it instead and that hurts more so keep qalm and stay still. The reason you keep out of his range until he rages is to keep him from attacking. If he attacks you and you attack him he flinches, but you can only do it once so save it until you need it.

FP is killed with something like 13 alt katanas instead of 11 axes (qorrect me on the numbers if I'm wrong). Well the point is that it doesn't take a lot more time with katana for fps either so axe is kinda unnecessary.

Xbow when my kite mates are zerks, LAR for husks and sirens is a bit slow. Xbow is 1 hit kills, and without axe you qan qarry it. So I'm the "sharp" in the group when needed.
M79 is just a quick way to get rid of qrawler groups or pretty much anything else if you have the ammo.

I'll share some of my favorite loadouts. Note that these might be more for veteran (although maybe not serious) players due to the fact that I am both a gaming and Killing Floor veteran, and therefore your mileage may vary; but I'll share them anyway:

Commando: Katana (optional), Pipe Bombs (very optional), Mk17, Mk23 (single)
Notes: Useful for general engagement. SCAR-H (AKA Mk17) isn't too overkill for use even on clots and crawlers, but is powerful enough to kill literally anything. Problem is ammo. But, that's why you go for ammo boxes if you can, and why you have at least one extra pistol (because the M9 is ****, and don't let the Sharps tell you otherwise).

Medic: MP5m, Katana (not optional here!), Pipe Bombs (still optional), any assault rifle (pretty much the baddest (in a good way, of course) thing I can afford; preferably an Mk17. may be given by Commando in multiplay), Mk23
Notes: Useful for light engagement. When you aren't playing with the Mk17 as a Commando, you have less dakka, less power, and more recoil. This makes you unable to kill anything more dangerous than a Scrake (assuming 1-3 people and normal difficulty), so you'll want to get those Pipe Bombs if you at all can.

Berserker (my personal favorite, but the hardest to pull off): Claymore, Handcannon (single), whatever else your heart desires (if anything at all)
Notes: With the Claymore you can kill anything and everything, up to and including the Patriarch (if you play your cards right). The problem is that you're less well equipped to fight off large amounts of incoming Crawlers and Stalkers than with a Katana; thus enter the Handcannon, which is the most likely pistol to one-shot these problem enemies. Also note that you need to be higher level for the Claymore to be effective, because you need maximum possible attack speed. Otherwise the Claymore is essentially dead weight (though a pretty nifty tank-buster), and you should just skip to the Katana and buy some Pipe Bombs for the odd Flesh Pound.
