And now it makes sense.

I was thinking that whilst the wheels do move independantly of the plane, they're attached to it, can't go infinity mph and the friction with the treadmill would have the effect of drag to a certain extent.

Yea, there isn't any friction between the plane and the belt in practise. Wheels turn the friction resistance into rolling resistance (which is significantly smaller than friction) because they are rolling freely. Bearings sure are amazing, aren't they?

Wait, I don't get it. It was a vampire plane? No wonder it took off--it was lifted by magic. I demand to see proof that non-vampire planes can take off when on a conveyor belt.
