over there.
I have created a few maps (unreleased) and I was curious if they could still be playable online even though they have their own utx, usx, and uax files? (could they be hosted on servers?)

I still don't know how to compress files within the map itself, but i know it has something to do with "mylevel" lol. that's about it. And if so, is there a way to go back and change the files?

Putting textures, static meshes etc into your map file (.rom) is a much neater way of distributing your map. It's simple really, it's a matter of importing each texture into your map, putting the package name as "myLevel" (without qutoes) group you can leave blank, and the name will automatically be your texture file name.

It's reletavely quick, even if you have many textures, just place all your textures, separately e.g. by their dds files into a folder. Go to your texture browser, then import, then just select all the files in the folder, type in "myLevel" as the package name and press "ok all", and it will do the rest for you. But make sure the texture name, is the same as the texture name you used in the map.

So am i going to have to reimport all of my custom textures in a myLevel package and replace all the textures in the map with the ones within said package? dammit.

Well if your map contains static meshes and bsps that use certain textures, the textures you import have to have the same names as the ones you are already using.

But if youre someone like me, you can still keep the textures in external files, and make it downloadable along with your map in a zip file or something. External files still work on servers.

If you replace textures, just add your textures in the /mylevel method, then select the texture that is 'old', then use the 'replace' function to change the textures to the one in /mylevel. The scale and alignment should stay.
