I'm a RO:CA vet and here is my argument.

RO:CA > RO:O > RO2.

Should have been the inverse, but sadly is not. I'm more convinced that everything that made the mod good was made by the guys who left, and what made Ostfront good were the leftovers from the mod.

More like

RO:CA = RO:O >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> RO2

It's silly to call this an RO game even. The original intention of the devs was that all the other games were putting the player in a war movie, while they wanted to put the player in the war itself.

RO2s design is just completely schizophrenic so who knows what they wanted. When I think of war and Stalingrad prototype weapons, leveling and 4 min map rounds don't exactly fit into it. I guess the intention was to put mechanics of popular games into RO, but they did it so awkwardly that it turned off even the fans of BF and CoD.

And for the record, i came from the mod too, i've followed RO since the start, and i do NOT agree with you that HoS is clouser to the mod, not in the slightest, if it were i would be having a blast with it, and i am not.
I have to strongly disagree. I've been around since RO for UT2k3 (that's even before RO:CA :p) and I think that RO2 feels much more like the several RO mod incarnations from the general gameplay feel)
Concrete points that you get in RO2 and RO:CA, but not in RO:OST:
- the C96
- kill tank crew members without blowing up tank
- SMG power
- realistic recoil
- interrupt reloading
- bayonet effectiveness
etc.

I don't feel like wasting money on the BF or COD because I know I'm going to get bored of it after a month. Basically both games are just a rehash of the last games that just came out.

Protip: check the statistics of any other game. They've had player drops from the start TOO.

Also, this is general discussion, not general diss-Ro2-here-forum. If you hate the game, do it but don't do it here.

We need a lot more moderation and bans around here.

And this is relevant because...?

You hinted that the majority were happy with the game. I posted evidence that would show this is not the case.

So, if people don't share your opinion, or do what you want them to do, they need banned? Trust me, there is plenty of "moderation" on this forum.

They're hilarious. They post to say " Look the game has lost some players ". I mean, who do they think wants to know?

I don't like several games I have bought/received in the past, yet I have never visited their forums to tell everyone. I guess I figured nobody would be interested, but these people think they have something earth shattering to share.

I play the game every day, I know how many players there are, and so does everyone else, but I'm sure that won't stop the doom and gloom crew from telling us again tomorrow or next week

Edit: Oh and the game is dead too apparently.

No we dont, banning them valid their arguments which is bad thing. Also about Metacritic seieng how that bought up a lot, people point that less reviewers liked the game which is false, as more reviewers liked it over Ost:
reviewu.png

Low Sample amount screwing with the average shocker, all of the bad reviews are about the bugs and not the game play. Whilst I would have loved TWI to work on it for a few more months and more hardcore realism in some areas, I remeber how the forums acted during the 2 week delay and what Ostfront was like a release...

Banning valid arguments is a bad thing.

Banning dozens of whiners repeating the same things again and again and again isn't. And that's what those forums are full of.

Also, about your picture, I'm not surprised. RO2 was much less of a niche-game and much more marketed. Also, it's not 2006, it's 2011.

But that just pisses them off even more, just turn the other cheek and wait a few months...

I really don't care what "critics" say about games. Haven't for years. What I tend to do for games is read some various reviews by users, and take note of the user score. 6.7 user score compared to Ostfronts 8.6. You need to look at what people are saying though to get an overall picture of what people generally think about it. Read the positive ones as well as the negatives

Why dont you check them first and see at what rate it is common for a game to decline? Barring special events most games bleed player count very slowly. To attribute the loss of players of HOS in the first two weeks to player bleed over time is complete crap.

Players who left were undeniably:
A: displeased with the game
B: displeased with bugs
C: A or B and they were also interested in BF3.

My opinion:

This game is not what i had expected all those years and now i feel embarrassed because i made most of my friends buy it and I don't play it anymore.

Since the pre-order till now i played 30 hours and have no planning of playing more.

You will think that i am criticizing the game here, but i say NO, it only isn't the type of game that i like to play that's why it will remain here till some decent mods are released.

cucamonster going away from this forum, i simple don't have nothing more to say or to read from most of this people.

Sorry for being honest and speak my mind.

I don't think they really care since they got the money for the 10,000 copies.

This.

Tripwire do care. Don't forget that this is a business like any other business. What people think about RO2 will have a direct effect on any upcoming RO game. This means that if people in general are dissapointed with RO2 it will most likely affect the sales of RO3 in a negative way which will affect TWI aswell. How much I don't know - but I know for sure that a quite amount of people wont buy RO3 just because It's called Red orchestra - which many of the RO2 players have done including myself. People vote with their wallets.
