here is my wish list for ROOST:

Soldier additions:

Germans:

Forest camo: on maps like Lyes Krovy
Winter camo
Winter cloths
Rain coats

Russians:

Winter cloths: non camo for some winter maps like StalingradKessel
Rain coats

Features:

Add blowing wind sounds to maps like StalingradKessel, Rakowice, and Barashka to show us how cold it realy was in the Russian winter. Plus it would add alot to the emersion factor.

Add falling rain sounds to maps with rain on them.

Add shellshock to tank shells both when fired and when they hit near by.

Make it so we can see our breath in cold maps in first person. when we are out of breath after runing for a long time. This would be a added Q to the player that he needs to rest up to keep runing.

Add air that comes from the mouth in therd person in cold maps so if we die we can see the breath go out from our bodys. Kinda like what you see in COD2 in the winter maps.

Add a shivering animation to the winter models that happens when they stand for too long in the cold. would be cool to see the player models/game show us just how cold it got back then.

Bug fixes:

Fix the Russian hands on all winter maps so they are gloved like they are in therd person. Or change the gloves so they are better sooted to the gun animations.

Some good ideas there, especially seeing your breath in 1st person and when your fatigued you will see it more frequently untill you have recovered. The wind sounds would be great too.

What do you mean by the shellshock idea? So if your in the tank and fire a shell you will get the blurry echoing effect as well as bieng hit?

I liked the shivering animation in CoD2 but i think that for the work it would take to add it wouldnt really be worth it.

Good ideas, I'd love to see more clothes for German side especially. Some winter clothing and raincoats would look great on later war maps.

Overall, great ideas. However, the devs have already stated that they will not be adding new clothes as it would push the RAM requirements over 1GB. I love the cold breath idea!

I don't think german troops were ever issued raincoats.

Only Feldgendarme had them.

here are some more ideas:

Other ways tanks can be killed:

Tanks that go out pf bounds get bombed by Stukas or IL2s mabe? May take some codeing but planes did somtimes go after enemy tanks in support of ground troops without the ground commander asking for help. In fact the Russians and Germans both had planes made for dive bombing tanks and vehicles in direct support of the ground battle. It would make it so tanks can't spawn camp anymore like they can now on maps like Heghog.

New weather on new maps!:

How about maps that have clear skys? I don't know about you guys but the same old cloud covered skys and gray clouds gets old after a while. I was thinking that if some of these maps take place in the summer they should look like it. Summer may have a storm here or theire but not all the time.

New maps:

How about some other big battles that happened in ROs time frame. More than just what is in game the Eastern front had some of the biggest tank battles ever in history, and some of the longest lasting battles in WW2:

Kursk
Kharkov
Pavlov House
Danzig
Valirisk
Orel
Zielona Gora
Seelow Heights
Porkhorovka

I would go find the post, but I'm feeling pretty lazy right now.

Maybe later.

However, I can explain why.

Having just a couple different uniforms allows your RAM to prepare a couple of different images that it knows will be coming - on Arad, it loads up tank skins, tank commanders, anti-tank, etc.

The problem with adding in new skins is that your RAM must load more into memory so that your FPS doesn't drop when 3 guys pop into view.

This pushes the RAM requirements up.

Hope that's understandable, if not, just tell me, and I'll delve into more simplified terms.

It would be ONE UNIFORM camoflauge skin for every single unit in the map.

Minus the tank commanders and tankers.

It would not push the ram requirements up at all.

ANY additional textures increase the needed RAM - maybe not officially, but you can bet that as soon as the new tank hits the battlefields, your FPS will drop - not significantly, maybe just one or two frames. Imagine 8 soldiers wearing 6 different uniforms.

Hey, not everybody must wearing a different uniform on the same map.
It will be enough if we have 2 random uniforms on each map, for example, or only one like the mapper want it.
For example, in early war maps the germans wearing all the standart fieldgrey uniforms, and on maps which is playing in the years 1943, 44, 45 they wearing cammoflage or fieldgrey.

ANd on Wintermaps not everybody wearing the same. here are 2 different uniform enough too.
- Fieldgrey, with coats, and another with a white jacket,
- the russians too, some with brown uniforms, and some with white coats, or with cammo uniforms

^^ This is true. But the system we have now, with many varied skins, plus continuing support for new vehicles, is hard enough on computers. Do you really want to start making it even harder for medium-range computers to run the game? I, in theory, am much in favor of new skins - it's just something that the devs should sit on until computer hardware is on average better.

MUST......STOP.......STRESSING....

:D

Yeah, but I still would rather see gameplay tweaks - fixing bugs, than seeing any new material. That new tank is nice, but I would have rather seen a lot of the MG problems fixed.

Good list :) I ... Must.... Agree... With..... SNake... though... :D

Before any major content added, id like to see allready existing bugs gone...

But maybe this issue is something for the texture and animators to deal with, and not much the coders....
I guess the 3D and sound artists in TWI are bored right now?
