Will buy at launch if and only if the bot AI is good. I like MP games but I rarely buy any of them besides the mainstream ones because I hate when the community dies off and when I am therefore unable to play the game I paid for. To me, all MP games need good bots so that you can play whatever you want to whenever you want to without relying on other people and only being able to play the popular maps/modes. The brilliant solo mode is the only reason I sprung for a Killing Floor purchase, because I know that no matter what happens I always have access to the full game, not just a drastically watered-down version of it.

So yeah, please TWI, make good bots that are fun to play with, and I will be more than willing to add this game to my library. Bad word-of-mouth on the original RO's AI is what stopped me from purchasing that game, I'd hate to see poor AI block out the sequel as well.

man...you mean you didn't buy a game because it lacked single player? you missed the last four years of awesome online battles because of no single player? I'm sorry, that's really too bad for you...because RO has been the best money I EVER spent on ANY software program besides maybe AutoCAD.

Oh no, Tripwire stands to lose money from someone who doesn't like multiplayer games, alert the presses.

RO gained acclaim and immense popularity because of its vigorously immersive multiplayer.

But yes, the AI in RO stunk to high heaven, and yes if you wanted to play single player against bots you would have a tedious experience.

I personally buy games that have good multiplayer, unless they are games like Fallout 3, Oblivion, or whatever where online play is unreasonable.

The RO online community is immense, and will become even greater when the new game comes out, since we all know that RO: HOS will freak'n rock *** :D.

LOL, I do understand what DysprosiumJudas is saying, the bots were less than stellar in most cases, especially when it comes to vehicles.

But even so, I would say that RO itself had at least 2 to 2 1/2 years of great community and multiplayer. One of the concerns expressed was not having that community around when/if he bought the game and he could have missed out on some great times for a budget price, bots be damned. I really think that his friends did him an injustice by not recommending the game, Especially in the first couple of years.

If you wanted to play single player RO and no MP, I probably would not have recommended the game. But if you wanted to play MP but were worried about the size of the community and the bots, I would say BUY BUY BUY!

I expect that ROHOS will be even better, with better AI as well. Speaking for myself, I have no worries about the size of the MP community even if the bots somehow sucked.

The online is still going good. I frequent two 50 man servers and most of the time they are full and hard to even get into.

Darkest Hour mod has a lot of players as well and plenty of good packed servers.

Next time, please read the post before you make some sardonic quip about it. I like multiplayer games and most of the time on my KF copy has been spent online, not on solo -- I just like knowing that when the KF community DOES die or dwindle to miserable amounts I won't "lose" the game. Some of us don't actually have large budgets for games, and I don't want to spend money on something I'll only be able to enjoy for a year when I can easily use that money on something much longer lasting instead. So while Red Orchestra DOES intrigue me, I don't want to have to rely on other people to enjoy my purchase, so when the online dies I want a good singleplayer to fall back on. If that singleplayer isn't there, then I'll probably need to funnel my gaming money elsewhere.

Just about every single player FPS bot i have played "sucks." They may not be that bad when you first start playing but eventual you can start to game them. That's why MP is so good. You never really know what someone is going to do and fighting a human is always going to be better then a bot in the long run. I do hope the bots are descent so i can jut in a quick game and play for a bit but i know in the long run I am going to want to play against real people.

Hey, Idea here. You could buy it, and play multiplayer, and keep playing multiplayer, and keep on playing multiplayer, and even 4 years from release your could still be playing, dare i say it, MULTIPLAYER. Its RO, enough said.

In an inferior multiplayer product or some other piece of software with a 5 hr singleplayer component?

My purchase hinges on another thing. Is there any chance that some added DRM will be used apart from steam? Take a look to the recently released Wings of Prey, which while it seems a really good game, everyone complains about the fact that it uses another DRM on top of steam(namely yuplay), made by the beloved Starforce company. A lot of sales seem lost due to that and also because of the limited # of installations.

From what I get, the yuplay thing is very new with only a few games, most of them published by 1C though. I just hope something similar wont be needed with RO:HOS.

(The developers of Wings of Prey have answered that the game is coded to be part of yuplay and was later decided to be sold through steam, which means that the double DRM will stay forever most likely). I might not buy it even though I love everything IL2 related. Who knows if I will be able to reinstall it in 2-3 years because of yuplay. IL2 went through many installations untill I bought it again on steam.

Good multiplayer games never die. Look at RO, still going strong (when you include DH at least).

You're crazy for not buying MP only games. Bots are NEVER as good.

Yeah the bot AI in RO is unusually bad but no one cared because no one in their right mind played SP. Your loss I guess, whatever.

His loss? More like OUR loss, one less new guy to kill. Over, and over, and over again. :D

I was going to say something similar. sure he might have said it differently but I don't think it was a " sardonic quip" as you put it. RO was 20 bucks when it came out and even if you played it for only a year, that's about a $1.50 a month.
RO was never intended to be a single player game in the first place and was only there for practice.
If your on a budget, own a pc and don't want to pay $1.50 that's your business but I think your just being cheap. The game is probably one of the best bangs for your buck out there.
