I think its great as it is. I know soldiers may have been carrying more grenades in real life, but in RS we respawn with new grenades and a battle dosn't last for hours.
Also just wondering why you think everyone exept rifleman on the japanease side should have a pistol.

Pistols armed by support classes are a good way to encourage personal defense without ruining the atmosphere of the game with lots of unhistorical type 100s or having average riflemen with pistols...

In actual WW2 close-in assaults, bags and bags of grenades were carried up to the point where men with grenade bags often carried up to 12 grenades.

With pistols, that's how it was on the japanese side. They used hand grenades, pistols and swords for close combat instead of submachineguns like in western armies.

Their section leaders and officers carried pistols and swords. I added the rifle for the sake of balance and the fact that they often carried rifles in addition to their close quarters kit anyway. LMG gunners carried sidearms like in western armies as well.

Here are some accurate slides:

In RS terms: Squad leader, light mortar, assault paratrooper (he is shown without his rifle, so he's armed with grenades, rifle, and pistol). The other page has riflemen and LMG.
