My opinions about the RO2 BETA

Before everybody screams: 'This is a beta you idiot, things will change', I know that. I' am just gonne list all things what I dont like about the beta and what should change imo.:D

1. The bandage system

The bandage system is one of the most idiotic features in the game.
Getting hit in the arm what will increase sway was a pretty nice feature in Ro1.
In Ro2 it doesn't matter because you can instantly fix yourself with the magic bandage blessed by Gandalf himself. And if you don't heal yourself you will die in a few sec of bleedout, great...

2. Sway & recoil

Like everybody is saying, there is not enough sway. There is almost no reason to support your gun on a window. And where is the sway after a long sprint?
And whats up with the mp40's? They are like automatic rifles. I know the recoil on mp40's in ro1 are a little bit to much, but this is just stupid.

3. LMG

They where the most feared weapons on the battlefield. Playing has a LMG is awesome in Ro1. But since there is little to no sway at all in Ro2, LMG are just not effective anymore. When people see a LMG shooting it only takes a sec for the LMG to get shot.

4. to many SMG/Semi-Rifle classes

Speaks for itself. There are more SMG/Semi classes than Bolt-action rifles.
So when a player is forced to use a Bolt action rifle, He is ****ed. And its only option is to camp.

5. Maps are to small

Thats right, I found the maps to be pretty small.
I would also love to see some real Attack & defend maps.
like attacking a base rather then fighting in a part of the city. (mods will fix this)

6. walking through people

I dont like this one damm bit. I was in a melee fight and we kept walking through each other and missing or melee attacks. I dont care its handy for spawning or whatever, Its feels more real to just bump into people.

7. Rounds are to short

where in Ro1, a battle could last half an hour.
In Ro2 most battles finish around 10-15 min.

Sorry if I piss alot of Ro2 lovers off. But remember, this is just my opinion.

Also remember that I am aware that some things can be fixed by admins later when the game is released.

But for the rest, Ro2 just changed to much for me...

I'd say I have to agree with everything. Now the maps are the same size as RO1 it's just that there's 64 players now rather than 50 so it makes it appear smaller, hopefully modders will help fix that.

I really hope that server admins will have the option to increase the time of the objectives in Countdown. As it is now (2:30!!) it's more like playing BlackOps where you have to fly around because you have no time to be "creative". I hope we can change that!

Oh, and I agree with most of your other points as well!

I mostly agree with you here. Though I can't help but like it a little when it keeps me alive ;). It's broken though, needs to at least be a different command key.

I totally agree with you. I don't worry about bracing my gun on anything anymore, there is absolutely no need.

3. LMG

Agree with this as well.

Not sure - are the distributions really that different from Ro1? in terms of bolts vs. other classes?

5. Maps are to small

Well we've only seen six. But I agree, I'd like to see a larger-scale mixed (tank and infantry) map soon.

Totally agree. It's crazy.

7. Rounds are to short

From what I've seen, I totally agree with this, too. I think it's a product of the confined spaces/smaller maps. The battles never really seem to dig into different phases/stages, at least not yet. It's just rush toward the caps.

Still, I'm having a blast most of the time. It's not entirely what I expected but I look forward to the full rollout.

I 100% agree with you :) They also should fix the game crashes on Barracks and RedOctoberFactory already... it's annoying that I got to play only on Grain...

I think the Iron sight zoom feature is a little to powerful. It seems like there's no real reason to grab the scoped weapon. Also the is no penalty for holding in too long.

Its rather artificial but its a game after all and the gameplay is lethal enough as it is so Im not preturbed by it.

Yes, some small adjustment to that

Kind of agree but feel that people dont use the mg properly. Try it in narrow lines of fire and it dominates anyone on the end of it.

no, sorry, variety is good. Also about rifle being a placeholder, isnt that how it often felt in ro1...?!!

Too early to say as they prmised to scale em in the full game according to number of players. Currently the new maps are prefect at 32 players.

Utterly disagree, saves all that blocking of doorways, just had a quick blast on ro1 for a comparison and the collision was quite annoying7. Rounds are to short
Yes, worst feature of all, RO2 home of the 2 minute round:rolleyes: hopefully this is a beta issue

Look the original RO1 maps like Kaukasus, the one with the factory, Tcherkassy, and all the vanilla ones, (NOT COMMUNITY ONES) are as small as Ro2 one's. Wait for the community to mod some.

In your post you say that RO2 just changed too much, it's just that it's not at the RO1 status yet will full mods, updates, new maps, patches, new weapons, vehicles, and more. Don't be disappointed in RO2. For 40$ just wait for it to get more support and developpement. I say if you don't like it, put it somewhere and come back in 1 year to see al the changes.

Completly agree regarding walking through people and round time, but the main thing that annoys me and i noticed first when i started playing is infinite sprint/iron sighting.

When i heard about this game i was under the impression it was very realistic, and in a lot of regards it is BUT why on earth can we sprint constantly and aim down a sight constantly?, sprinting should have a limit and then a cooldown and aiming down a sight should sway more over time.

Its my opinion about the beta, not the full game. I understand the game will change overtime, knowing TWI.

I'm just not enjoying the game in this state

perhaps in firefight...

but i've played quite a few territory that went upwards of 30 mins to an hour (and were intense throughout)

and i wouldn't say bolt rifles are helpless against semi-autos/smgs
It's a personal preference


as for lack of sway
RO1 sway was exaggerated. Many youtube videos and forum users who have actually fired guns confirm that RO2 sway is more realistic

nonetheless
to each their own opinion

I agree with all of them somewhat, but espeically #5 and #7.

Maps too small and rounds too short - it doesn't feel epic when a "war" lasts 10min.

The lockdown timers should all be doubled, and reinforcements increased by 50%

I agree that the maps thus far are on par in size with maps such as RO-StalingradKessel or RO-BaksanValley. I'm loving Red October Factory, it reminds me of RO-Rakowice in a way. I'm also hoping to see something akin to RO-Barashka. (The one with the bridges, I think that's the name.)

Also, I'm going to try playing on a server with less than 64 max player count and see how that goes, I've heard it's a bit slower paced in gameplay and less chaotic.
