Well my first impression was one of disapointment and apathy. Made worse by the first few servers I joined where either Countdown or Firefight...being an RO Ost player these modes where to alien for me and I really didn't enjoy them at all...I didn't realise there where different modes so I thought that was it...then it dawned on me and I started playing the TE mode.

Slowley but surely I started to get used to the game, I realised even more so than RO that if your unlucky to be on a server or side that doesn't use teamwork the game really doesn't shine at all and can be pure frustration. However if you do find some teamwork going on, even if it's just a few of your side it starts to really shine.

There are issues, some things I would love to see changed, some things I hope come in patches or at the worse pay DLC (mainly troop transport so we can have fair size CO maps). I'm unhappy about certain guns being to accurate. However I reckon they will be tweaked at some point.

So I'm now excited about RO2 future. So much potential and I'm pretty hopeful that either mods or even TW will be on hand to improve areas that need improving and add more content.

I can honestly see maps being made by the community that will become absolute classics and in time no one will be RO will be surpassed.

Pretty much 100% agree. I think FF mode is actually pretty fun - if it is meat grinder fun, but fun nonetheless. I think the maps are just plain beautiful - the grain silo map especially. TWI will take care of the bumps that we're experiencing and will then work on increasing the FPS by optimizing the code. The maps the modding groups will come up with will be amazing though - I'm sure of it. The foundation is good, and will be sound once the few cracks are fixed. The next year looks good!

The difference for me is that I'm enjoying just getting familiar with the game and with my own skills in it....if my team is doing terribly I just turn off the part of my brain that gets upset about one-sided fights.

But yeah, many games with this level of tactical depth only achieve their potential when the players do, and the beta is where that's least likely to happen.

To be honest though, other than the tanks, I've had a blast with the beta product, bugs, glitches and all. And I'm honestly not the kind of person who loves online shooters played alone. I only really dig on them when I have friends to play with. But RO2 has sucked me in to the point where I'm playing 5 hours alone everyday...and I don't think I've done that with any MP shooter. I couldn't even stand to play KF without my friends.

I think the last game I put this much time into online by myself was Enemy Territory. And that's how RO2 strikes me. Not as the successor of RO1 (which I thought was so so) but like a really grown up and developed successor to Wolfenstein Enemy Territory.

i agree.

the first day or so i was somewhat disappointed, but i find myself enjoying it more now.

Mostly due to the reassuring thought that mods will come out to address most of our grievances.

Actually, on the note of W:ET....are there going to be actual objectives in maps at some point? I know RO1 had tank traps that had to be destroyed by engineers. If we saw some of that in RO2....that would be amazing.

(If it was like ET too where control of objectives changed map path ways and stuff, that would amazing x2. But I don't expect that of the RO2 engine, TWI tried stuff like that in KF but eventually abandoned it.)
