My name is Player746-something? It doesn't use my Steam profile?

In-game my name is Player xxx-something. I asked around and normally RO2 should use the Steam profile name. Somehow it doesn't do this for me.
Apparently i'm one of the few with this issue because i didn't see other Player xxx's in the scoreboard.

Tried setting a name through the console, no luck.

Is there a fix?

Strange thing is, in the Profile Stats page i do see my name correctly. It's just in-game that it becomes Player xxx..


If you edit the ROEngine.ini file and change "Name= ----" it doesn't stick, in-game you're still Playerxxx.

I have two special characters in my name, that have never given me a problem in other Unreal engine games, namely a full colon and open parenthesis at the end.

Edit: Humh. Strange. The problem just got fixed for some reason. I did nothing. I just joined a server and noticed that it was now showing my name correctly.

I guess RO2 can't handle some special characters yet. It's correct in the Profile Stats page, just not online.

*found the cause*
It's the special characters. In my name there's a full colon and open paranthesis. When i remove them from my name it appears good in-game. When i put them back my name is Player7467 again.

Zeep = good
Zeep = Player xxx

is our clantag so i hope TWI can fix this.

Yeah I had to remove the colon from my Steam name in order for it to show my name.

If you want to use the special characters anyway then ingame open the console and type "setname yournamehere". You'll have to do that every round though..

Yes it's a pity. Our clantag is and now we're all playerxxx too.

Hopefully they will adress this before too long. Like i said before, you can still use your tag/name but you'll have to type "setname xxxxxxxx" in the console every map. Or bind it to a key. For now, that's what i do. My playername without the clantag just doesn't look cool enough

hello I'm typing this here because they are censoring my thread and wont let it on the forum for some reason...When I connect to a game I'm just stuck there floating around like a spectator, cant join teams cant do nothing and yes I tried masterservers file thing and everything pls help I really want to play this, on steam I got 58 minutes on this and its all trying to make it work none of it is actual gameplay

I don't even want to use my Steam name. Why can't I set it as I want it in the options menu? Cause it'd be daft to be forced to use RO clan tags in my other games.
