Do these people actually watch the shows in it's entirety? Do they actually enjoy the show itself or is it that they like the idea of people knowing that they "enjoy" it?

Yes, yes they would.
The people I know that watch the show are usually creepy attention whores. They bring it up every chance they get, it seems they feed off people's disbelief that they watch the show.
I always thought older people who like this show had some sort of 'lure the children in by liking the stuff they do' predator strategy.
I have not changed my opinion.
