Yeah this issue was/is with Punkbuster and Realtek drivers, nothing to do with the game
Sound cutting out was something else.
i'm using the realtex onboard sound. i had asked trip. a couple months ago if i should get a sound card to sort my problems, but no one from trip. has yet answered the question. it's a moot point for me, because i rarely lose sound because of arty or lots of mg fire. (i think that's what was causing it. i really am not sure. it got steadily worse the longer i remained online)
the issues that some people, with more than capable computers have, is far beyond my comprehension!
whatever happened to.... system requirements.... meet them and you're good. now we get ...meet the requirements and you might be able to play. exceed them and who knows?
is it the way programming is today? it seems to me that although they've made major advances in the last twenty years as far as the game looks and plays, they allways take the easy way and just use more memory/hd space/more gpu, whatever, to do the job. used to be that programmers tried to stay within the limits of what was out there, as far as computers and made games that worked for them.
is it the devs fault? or is it just that computers have gotten so spread apart, compatibility-wise, that you just can't make a game that works for everyone meeting the min. requirements, because the industries standards are too vague?
