Yoshiro, my PC freezes also and dont have a REALTEK sound card.

My mb is Asus P6T Deluxe, does not include any REALTEK Chip.

I'm in the same club ! i have been playing with sound settings no joy

It's only started happening since after a recent patch. but its bad enough it stops me from playing. :(

I have this problem as well: PC freezes playing a sound, only hardware reset can restart it (no CTRL-ALT-DEL).

Intel E8500 dual core 3.18Ghz
RAM 4GB DDR II
Nvidia GTX 560
Windows 7 64bit
Realtek audio

Have you tried upgrading video and audio drivers to latest versions?

If done that, try downgrading video drivers one step back, seems to have helped sometimes.

Try playing on a server without Punkbuster :)

Your problem is very likely caused by a conflict with the Realtek drivers and Punkbuster ( as mentioned earlier in the thread )

I and many others had similiar issues and I fixed mine by buying a soundcard. Both Realtek and Even Balance ( the guys behind Punkbuster ) know about the issue, but seem unwilling to fix it.

can confirm that it is most likely an realtek vs punkbuster issue, one fix is to play on non punkbuster servers, another fix is to get a sound card, or buy a usb headset/soundcard and use that instead of the onboard sounds.

However this last patch has also made things a lot worse for me, im having between 100-180 ping on all servers and im having hit delay when shooting etc...

On the other hand, I have Asus P8Z68-V with onboard Realtek ALC892 chip - haven't had a single issue with RO:HOS or any other software with it. YMMV.

Edit: Haven't even had any PunkBuster conflicts with it. Occasional network lagging though, but that's more or less norm with PB.

Yup, the issue doesn't affect all implementations, you're one of the lucky ones.

i got lucky as well. sounds used to cut out if there got to be too much going on, but the patches have mostly eliminated my problems.

Yeah this issue was/is with Punkbuster and Realtek drivers, nothing to do with the game :)

Sound cutting out was something else.

i'm using the realtex onboard sound. i had asked trip. a couple months ago if i should get a sound card to sort my problems, but no one from trip. has yet answered the question. it's a moot point for me, because i rarely lose sound because of arty or lots of mg fire. (i think that's what was causing it. i really am not sure. it got steadily worse the longer i remained online)

the issues that some people, with more than capable computers have, is far beyond my comprehension!

whatever happened to.... system requirements.... meet them and you're good. now we get ...meet the requirements and you might be able to play. exceed them and who knows?

is it the way programming is today? it seems to me that although they've made major advances in the last twenty years as far as the game looks and plays, they allways take the easy way and just use more memory/hd space/more gpu, whatever, to do the job. used to be that programmers tried to stay within the limits of what was out there, as far as computers and made games that worked for them.

is it the devs fault? or is it just that computers have gotten so spread apart, compatibility-wise, that you just can't make a game that works for everyone meeting the min. requirements, because the industries standards are too vague?:(

Has this issue been solved by Realtek or Punkbuster?
I have to play server without PB and this reduces much the available choices, also because servers without PB tend to be always full (for obvious reasons).
