Ok possibly the last news post for a while, but I'll try and get as much in as I can before I up and leave for a couple of months.
Since I started development on the RE mod, I have been contacting several map developers about their already released levels.
I have been asking them for their permission to allow me to modify their levels to fit in with the Resident Evil theme.
Now by that, I mean I would be taking their levels and converting them into mission based maps by combining various levels together. I would then be adding Resident Evil creature spawns to those maps.
So what we have is various wave based maps, combined together in one way or another, linking together is probably a better term, they're been converted into mission maps that are unique to the ODC RE mod.
So far every developer I have contacted have given their blessings, so as it stands we have even more mission maps releasing with the mod.
See I have this vision, that instead of the modders working against each other, that instead of letting our individual work get lost in the madness, that we combine forces to bring the community the best of the best that the modding world has to offer.
And that is what I have done. I have taken some of the best underappreciated maps out there, that are truely works of art, that honestly deserve to be shown in all their glory. I have taken these levels and made them into an epic work of art.
But it doesn't just stop there. Not only did I contact developers of wave based maps, I have contacted the makers of the Resident Evil themed mission maps.
Now excluding the RE1 Mansion Mission map, which I am still waiting to hear back from.
The Hive V1, V2 and soon V3 and Raccoon International Airport all made by KiCk3R. Those mission maps are being converted and will spawn Resident Evil creatures instead of the KF zeds. So those RE themed maps can be played the way they were envisioned to be played.
So a long post there by any standard. But from what you can see, this project is going above and beyond any small mod, it really is a mean machine in size.
The newly added maps will more than likely be released after the RE mod goes live. I don't want to keep you waiting any longer than you already have been. But now you know that the RE mod will actually have DLC in the future!
If only RE wasnt copyrighted, I could be hailed a hero.
So I'll stop here, thats where we are at the moment. That news is fresh off of the press.
Thank you to all of those Map developers who have been kind enough to provide me their work for my creation. I know its not exactly an easy thing to do. I'm aware many modders like to keep to themselves these days, so thank you.
Until the next time...
