"Thou Shalt always Kill"

song out-o-my head. Very cool groove.

I'm not a fan of the rap. Too angry. I like happy, feel-good music. ie: ska, reggae, latin beats, etc.

Thought I'd join the party - join the Party, thought I would. And 'ere I am with two Polish classic music videos.

KNŻ (Kazik Na Żywo; of the famous Kazik Staszewski) under a funny alias, the song is "Die Maschinen des Todes", the industrial-esque version of the hit song of the eponymic album "Los Maquinas de la Muerte". The music video is, of course, a tribute to Ed Wood. There was a lot more of that kind of footage, there was also another project with the kitschiest video you could come up with ["Idę tam gdzie idę (nie idę gdzie nie idę)"]. Also, I like how the lyrics turned out in German, I think they're pretty close to the original.

And the other one is T.Love's "King", from their eponymic album "King". Footage contains scenes from a Polish 1993 movie, the director's debut, titled "Balanga" ("The Party") about life in the country after the political transformation, when everyone was trying to redefine their lives in the new, capitalist, reality. Plus, the old skool rocker, Muniek Staszczyk and the rest of the band. Awesomeness. Too bad you won't know the lyrics, because they're, well, good, true to life.

Oh, and since I came up with two Polish bands that went big in the 80s and were at the top in the 90s, here's one more: Republika's "Biała Flaga" (The White Flag). If we were looking for comparisons, I'd say they remind me of Joy Division's new wave - albeit it's not simliar at all ;) Well, the only similarity seems to be the fact that Grzegorz Ciechowski, the lead on vocals and keyboards, passed away at the age of 44 (in 2001). Mediocre sound quality in this live video.
