I just wanted to point out that currently we are running a 64 man server on our old box (new box just got setup). We were running 2x Intel Xeon 5345 DQC 2.33GHz. Included with our 64 man RO2 Beta server, we had 1 50 slot COD4 and 1 50 slot COD:WW server as well as a couple private practice/test servers running on that box. With both the public servers and the RO2 server full, we experienced no lag what so ever in any of the games. Game ran extremely smoothly.

I do not have access to view the CPU usage and I'm not sure how we have the affinity set, but I'm sure our head server admin could tell you.

So it is possible to have a 64 man server running very smooth on a much lower processor than what was showed for the server specs.

It sounds like an issue on your providers end I'm afraid. If the CPU usage is not spiking, but you are getting lag spikes when people join then it is likely not an issue with the game's server software. I've got about 40 64 player servers running and none of them have this issue.

After everything we've tried , that's kinda what we figured. Either there's a hardware issue or software running they are not telling us about.

Thanks guys.

Just to follow up on this....

After reading some of the posts about RO2, the GSP felt it was an issue with the software. Especially as how we run other games off of it with no (noticeable) issues.
We needed to walk them through, step by step, what we were doing and experiencing and show that the issues with the current build have nothing to do with the issue we were seeing.

GSP fiinally agreed to set us up on a different box temporarily. And, no surprise, it worked great. No server lag issues.

So they are currently swapping out Harddrives to see if that might be the issue. Then move on from there if it's not.

Thanks guys. Looks like it was a hardware issue. Not to the extent of total failure, but enough to cause severe lag when individuals joined the server.

Just today we had our harddrive replaced and the OS re-installed.

Lag GONE!

Thanks for all the support trouble shooting. Nice to have a company support their game. Even nicer that our server is lag free now :IS2:

Looking forward to many years of RO2 fun!!

( Now I just have to learn how to mod so I can get S&D in there  )
