Multiplayer doesn't work, killing floor can't connect to anything

So I've just bought this game and killing floor just can't seem to connect to anything, I've read about the port forwarding and the master.vdf or whatever but nothing has helped.

I turned off all my firewalls, antiviri and forwarded all the ports in my router. Problem is my router doesn't forward ports properly and I can't do anything about this except buy a new router. But still I don't understand why other games do work and killing floor doesn't, there must be a way to fix this.

Please does anyone know more about this 'cause at the moment it feels like I just wasted 9

You should give everyone a little more info on your system, hardware, OS, router etc.

Also, did you verify the game cache thru Steam?

OS: vista 32
router: SMC7004VBR
processor: Intel quad Q6600 2.40 ghz
graphics card: ATI radeon HD 3800
ram: 4 gigs

I just tried verifying game cache and it said all files were good and still no connection in killing floor.

I also tried connecting through the steam server browser but the connection just times out.

EDIT:
What I really don't understand is how red orchestra works fine for me, I noticed the server browser and connection system looks exactly the same yet red orchestra multiplayer works perfect and killing floor not at all.

Im having the same problem. can't connect to any servers. I tried reinstalling, verifying cache and still no luck. Its not my system its steam or the game. When I try to join a server steam always loses connection. Its only in this game

bump i would like to know how to fix this isuue. the only way i can play is to have a friend join the game then i join on the friend.

Killing Floor has been, from my experience, really hit and miss on Mac.
2.4 GHZ C2D - Nvidia 320 M - 4GB ram - 10.6.6

I just downloaded todays Steam update - Feb 24th 2011.

Some times it simply won't load my character data - every class is Lv. 0.
Nice.

Other times I can't connect to multiplayer servers - it just times out and says Connection Failed Connection Failed (twice, with a line break in between). But I can still play solo... which is fun for a while...

Then there are times like today, where Multiplayer, Host, and Profile (or whatever it's called) all give me a helpful "You must be connected to Steam and have internetz to play" or something.

It sucks - not because I want to play real bad or spent money on this game that I can't play half the time - but because when it works it works WELL.

Seriously, Tripwire, let me know where I can pre order KF 2. I hope you support mac.

I have the same problem...i just got a macbook pro and when i try to connect to a killing floor multiplayer server it never connects. I can play solo and do everything else but i just cant connect to a multiplayer server.

I have the same problem. I got Killing Floor yesturday and when I try to connect to servers, I just got "Querying Master Server." It's NOT my connection, other games work fine. It has to be the game.

I've been in contact with Steam for over a month.
They made me jump through many deletion and reinstallation hoops.
Since KF multiplayer matches don't run on Valve servers, nor is it a Source game, they can't do anything. They, just like Tripwire, pointed the finger at someone else.

So, Tripwire, can you please look into this for us? Thanks!

We are working with Valve to try and determine where this issue is. But Valve was on vacation the past 2 weeks so it has been slow going for that time period.

i have been trying to connect over and over again and it works every like 1 in 50 tries this is getting so annoying and im ready to just delete killing floor and look for a new game. Please get this fixed.

I am having this problem too. This seems to be the game. It was working when I used other internet sources but now It won't work at all. Can this be fixed another way or is it just a problem remaining unfixed? I really do enjoy killing floor and would like to play online with it again.

The fix!

To fix killing floor so it will connect do the following:

1) Delete the killing floor game using steam so basically right click the game and delete local content

2) Close steam

3) Delete the following folders in the main steam folder:
appcache
depotcache
logs
userdata

4) Delete the following files in the main steam folder
AppUpdateStats.blob
ClientRegistry.blob

5) Turn steam on and download killing floor and you are ready to play again! Do not restore a back up or anything like that you need a new fresh download.
