Saw the first problem with this last night.

On Stalingradkessel the germans were attacking for a change, but could make little advance as the map would not allow the choice of the Engineer class so that the various doors could be blown.

I suspect that the custom map maker did not foresee the need for the germans to have an engineer loadout. Its a minor issue, but one that will need to be considered when adding maps.

One other problem is that you may end up fighting the same few maps for a while as a territory is fought over.

Which is a shame as we have been fighting for more choice in maps for ages.

Putting the custom maps in the most fought over areas would help.

One big plus is people are playing the tank maps again, which had been taken out of circulation because of problems.
It makes a nice change.

But that problem is not from the MP Campaign but the map.
The map is pretty god damn difficult for the attacker.

I should have made myself more clear. The problem is for Server Admins when placing maps on the OC server, because i think they will have to take into account some problems that might arise from the Germans or Russians switching sides from defend to attack.

I think the map itself is a pretty god challenge, but a good team will overcome it.

It is pretty much impossible for the attackers without an engineer though!

I must admit I did not think about the campaign mode :eek:, I'm checking that (the think is the defender shouldn't have engineers).

I've yet to try it but the tales seem positive too far. I loved the idea of just having 1 round on a territory. Makes the games more important and gruesome. I'll try for myself next time.

TWI should release this 'officially' with the contest winner maps put in there as well.

I played today for a whole campaign. Allies rolled Axis to finally win the whole war. Nice little celebratory video at the end. I'm in love.

I've mostly played multiplayer campaign for the last few days. And it is awesome! So much more meaningful to play if I may say so :)

There are at least two servers with the campaign on and both had players on when i looked during most of the day (european times).

Might be more at weekend maybe.

Not sure how that fits in with your times Sarcinelli.

Playing with the filters today:

40-1 and MERC servers have jumped on board. Good work guys!


40-1 are running their server in Classic mode ;-}

You know, it's now like that people happily downloaded custom maps when first of them came out, it was more like server admins forced players to download them with map rotations instead of map votings, otherwise it would be appartments-barracks loop forever.

The problem is campaign has voting inside it (I'd rather let the commander chose), asymmetric RO maps, which favour one of the team and human laziness (nowadays people are too lazy even for automatic map downloads), so what we have here is that custom maps are rarely get voted for, moreover, people tend to chose maps that will be easier to attack, it really takes balls to choose StalingradKessel or RedOctoberFactory.

This aspect really needs to be reworked and some limitations introduced like random map selection from chosen territory.
Campaign servers running the rounds in Count-down mode would be interesting.

I also love this mode aswell.
I'd love to see more ixed servers runnig both CD and TE maps, however the problem is on CD match will be over before people will fully download the map.

I think that can be solved by putting a limit (such as 1 or 2) on the number of times a map can be voted for in a campaign. Perhaps that is even a server setting in the Campaign mode already that we don't know about because its all new to us.

It'd be nice if a Dev would take maybe 15 minutes out of their RS schedule to list or explain some of the settings for those currently playing ROHOS on this, even though we know they haven't officially released the mode. Afterall, its seems the community is jumping at the chance to play it and its like free Beta testing where TWI doesn't even have to show up.

How about making them have to win every map in that territory in order to gain control? Force the campaign to play every map.
