We were playing really nice matches tonight, but at the last battle - where we destroyed Germans - the game bugged and said we lost (despite having +50 tickets), since it was the last objective we lost the whole campaign and I heard that if would've won this battle the whole campaign would be won (Germans had very few attack power, fewer than us)... I wouldn't complain if Germans beat us and claim victory, but ending campaign like that was a serious letdown...

I also tried the multiplayer campaign recently, and I got a bit embarrassed on behalf of TWI, since the end-of-round bug kept kicking in almost every round, giving victory to both teams at once, and all the beginners (and not a few veterans as well) were completely baffled, and I understand them.

It is such a drag having a good game where the team is really fighting and giving its best, and it is always close games this occurs on, since the bug only kicks in when both teams are out of reinforcements, then to see that the game awards an undeserved victory to the other team as well.

Although present in the game since release this bug has managed to stay relatively unnoticed by many, I still hear veterans that claim they have never experienced it before when they encounter it now, but with the multiplayer campaign it suddenly becomes very noticeable, since the victory awards is rather important there. The bug has been reported several times (as in the link in my sig) and has also been acknowledged by TWI on at least one occasion, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have been prioritised. Hopefully it will be now.

The two bugs are most likely completely unrelated in code.

I believe this might be 2 different things.

When not in campaign mode, and you hit 0 reinf for both sides on an attack / defend map, the "successful" defenders may get a loss. I think that turned out to be a server option. It only happened on certain servers, and was consistent. I'm not sure why this would be an option, but it appears some servers like to have it so if the defenders are out, they loose no matter what.

The 2nd thing, getting a victory when you lost your round has to do with loosing the round, when you won the Campaign. Not so much a bug, just a confusing way to show the results. You did indeed loose the match, but won the campaign, but you get the usual won the match music / title, followed by the campaign victory video.

I think that in certain situations winning the last match might be not enought to survive in campaign - despite of victory winning team still goes under zero in power points as its balance is negative. Problem is that the game doesnt show results of last match (campaign score screen) but plays victory/defeat movie. It probably would answer a lot of questions if it did.

I'd say @ 30% of the campaign endings I've participated in have been confusing. Come back from the dead on the last round, win it and still lose the campaign(whaa?); be winning, win the last match and lose the campaign(?); cap all the objectives on a round, get the victory music and still lose the round(?). Just odd.

An explanation of how the combat power and scoring works would help.

It'd be nice if chat was enabled through all the after round loading time and if there was a designated "ready up time" of 30 seconds or so. Like there's a load screen that says "Prepare for battle!" More people might get the concept that we could strategize instead of just sprinting out of spawn and figuring it out as we go. At best, there's two or three of us that coordinate before the round begins.

I've seen this bug - where the last attacking enemy was killed and it was considered as defeat for the defenders - before campaign, with map rotation. I've also seen game granting victory to both teams (ending tie with defeat for one side, because it was the 3rd game) as well.

I agree. It's especially throublesome for the defenders as they need to reach places which often are under enemy fire. Left MG (for the Soviets, or right MG for the Germans) enplacement on the Mamayev is a good example. You need to hurry to get there before enemy start raining fire.

Sorry, I misunderstood the original post. I agree that the end of campaign bug is unrelated, but my point about the regular end-of-round bug triggering a lot during the campaign still stands and is as relevant as ever.

That is not how the regular end-of-round bug works in territory mode. It just gives a victory to both teams at once when both teams has 0 reinfs left and the defenders manages to kill the last attacker. It never gives a victory to the wrong team only.

I like playing campaign over random maps, even if campaign is somewhat bugged at times.

For me must the waiting time between rounds to be shortened. It is much too long to wait.

And yesterday i choosed attack and i got a defense team

I don`t want to defend, i hate camping.

It's buggy to be sure, but it's a big improvement over straight TE. Gameplay has improved, players are more engaged in team coordination. I think it'd also be a way to introduce various modes without dumping players (as badly) a round here and there in CD or S&D for example. Without the incentive to stick out the campaign, it could kill a full server to do this. More custom map choices would help too break the monotony of the same stock maps.

Campaing mode should not be allowed, complete gamebraker, full of bugs.

If you don't like it, play on a non-campaign mode server.

I like the idea and gameplay that it brings, even if there are more bugs. It just feels like there is more purpose to playing. If I don't feel like playing it, I will join another server.

I saw a Campaign server active over the weekend. Just bots in it at the time, but figured I'd join in and see what it was all about and wait for more players to join.

However, I was only on the server for a few seconds before I was back at the server browser with a notification saying I was kicked by the administrator. (I didn't even have a chance to spawn)

Yeah ok.... wtf?

You don't want people playing on your server or something?

Don't want the Campaign to start before a bunch of players are on??

Then why do you have bots running around playing??

Why isn't the Server Password Protected???

Guess I'll just avoid that server from now on. You just lost a possible player and his friends from populating it.

If that's something players can expect when Campaign becomes more popular and official, then I want nothing to do with it.

Either let people play on your damn server or password the damn thing.

This seems like a bug, we had the same issue with a few players complaining about why they get kicked, though we never kicked anyone.
Our server was about 64/64 at this time.

Hmm... odd.... seems like an admin boots you off. Very odd error.

Might explain why there were no players except bots cuz anybody would get kicked.

Next chance I get I will try again on that server and see what happens.... I took that kick personally :p

The bots clearly started a kickvote on you as soon as they saw you joining. ;)
