From the newest video it looks as if hte stock on the MP40 is folded. Will we have the option to have the stock folded up or extended outward in game? Maybe you could use the "fix bayonet" button, since obviously the MP40 doesn't have a bayonet? Personally I ask for this cause tbh, while it doesn't really make much of a difference to me I do like the extended version better, just seems more realistic.

if you could choose. The i would like it to have some impact on gameplay, folded would take up less screen space and not point out as much (better when trying to hide around corners) and have more recoil.

stock out wouls cover more of your screen, point out more and less recoil... or maybe with it out you better accuracy.

The stock should be open. You're not meant to shoot with the stock folded.

Sure you can shoot it with the stock close, but you can also hold pistols side ways... doesn't mean it should be added in.

I like this idea, except for the cover of the screen idea, but the rest should be in the game.

Stock folding option could be put under the ''bayonet'' key easily. I don see why this should not be implemented! Its just another great addition above other WW2 games.

Probably between tits.
Sure, you could add it, but what's the point? Firing with the stock collapsed is inferior in every single gameplay aspect. The real life pros of a folding stock are next-to impossible to convey in a game. Furthermore, my opinion is that all of the weapons should be less visible in "hipped" mode. Try holding a rifle down at your hip in real life and see how much (or little, rather) of the gun you actually see. In most of the weapons in R.O (or any game, for that matter) you can see a good part of the receiver.

Doesnt matter what the point is, just another fine detail.

That is exactly what I am saying....

And for a gameplay effect, it could be more accurate with the stock unfolded. There really is no point to have the stock folded at all tbh, but for some reason that is the current skin in HoS. This is mainly like a mediator idea, unless people want to go and oppose a folded stock all the way.

If you would have done a forums search, you would have seen that I already made a post about this probably at least 6 months ago.

We here at the Tripwire forums strongly encourage the use of the search tool. :p

That said, the option to unfold the stock would be nice, but don't start barking out that it's wrong to shoot with it folded and that there are no benefits to keeping it that way.

Remember that weapons collide with the world in first person. Remember that RO can allow differences in weapon handling if both folded and unfolded stock options were offered. Remember that most of us haven't fired an authentic MP40, making most judgment on how viable it is a waste of writing.

I'm not barking, I'm not even presenting my opions strongly, I just said it'd be more realistic to have it folded but isn't much of a big deal, so maybe there could be an option for people who want it folded and for people who want it unfolded.

It's not really being tough, is it? This is a topic that has been bought up many times over many years, like grenades (for revisions) and German anti-tank rifles (for addition). It's worth discussing. Therefore, when a thread that is 6 months old and is not to be easily found (within the first 15 pages) is all that we have, then it's worth making a new thread, wouldn't you agree? Especially now that in HoS, all weapons collide with world objects. Therefore, there are, in fact, benefits to having the MP-40's stock folded.

I never said it wasn't a good idea. I after all, commented on this to Ramm's personal steam account (you can actually still see my comment) long ago.

He had told me, and a friend of mine that the stock wasn't up for debate.

You being a dickhead is what is distressing.

I'm not an admin, and I won't be accused of being a side seat admin. I thought it was redundant , oh well. Post away.

Who called you a backseat admin, exactly?

Let's end this before this thread turns into a great big flaming match, but for reference: "Get out of here STALKER" isn't exactly an insult. It was (intended to be) much more friendly than just saying "Get out" or something along those lines.

Secondly, I wasn't saying that you thought it was a bad idea, I was saying that your topic/post/whatever was 6 months old. People's opinions change over 6 months, game devs included. Also, why not throw a fresh piece up for discussion when the last thread or post is rather lost to sight?

Agreed.

The Mp-40 stock would be great if it could be extend-able.

Actually, HoS seems like it will be the first game where folding your stock DOES matter. Your weapon can collide with the geometry in HoS - if you are hiding behind a bathtub in some apartment building you may want to keep your stock folded just to reduce the overall length of the weapon and make it easier to maneuver in the very confined spaces. The rest of the time it would of course be much more advantageous to keep your stock unfolded.

I haven't fired an MP40, but I have fired a variety of 9mm sub guns. I also used to own a .22 semi auto that was of a very similar configuration to an MP40, with the wire stock, etc.

Shooting it with the stock folded was pretty pointless, really. It was too heavy to hold out like a pistol and have any real accuracy, and the balance sucked hard, too. You could fire it from the hip, using your off-hand on the front of the magazine well, but outside of 3-7 yards or so you weren't going to hit anything.

Having a folding stock is more for storage / transportation than anything else. It's a lot easier to carry around with the stock folded, but you really don't want to shoot that way.
