I did a quick search or two about this topic and though it was mentioned in a few posts, there was no true focus on the idea so I'm going to make one.

I first experienced this style of game mode with Medal of Honor Allied Assault: Breakthrough, it was called Liberation. To me, it is one of the most entertaining FPS multiplayer game modes. Though it often gets overlooked and you don't see this game mode much in the recent years. With the great popularity that RO has gotten I would like to see the game revive this game mode and bring it back into the spot light.

I realize that someone could possibly make a game mod for this gameplay mode, but I think if this was an Official release from TW, it would just be one more feature that would help set them apart from the other games out there currently. TW has said that there are additional features Coming Soon after the release of the game and I'm not sure how difficult it would be to program this game style, but perhaps if this idea catches their interest they could implement it in a future patch.

Jailbreak!

Brief description
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Jailbreak gameplay, its fairly simple. You have your 2 teams each with a "base" that contains a Jail. When a player dies, they are sent to the enemy Jail (spawn). Players can rescue team mates by going to the enemy Jail and releasing their captured team mates. Jailbreak!

Objective
Eliminate the entire enemy team while defending while defending your Jail to prevent the enemy team from releasing their captured team mates.

Rescue your captured team mates from the enemy Jail to put them back on the battlefield.

First team to capture/kill the entire enemy team wins.

__________________________

This gameplay mode is a variation of Team Death Match where technically you do get 1 life, but if you have good team work and you are rescued, then you are back in the game again (like a 1up). It has a very Tug of War feel to it, one minute your team could be on top, but a minute later the tables could be turned.

I know RO2 is planning on supporting 64 player matches, though it may be a bit extreme for this style of gameplay (matches could last for hours). Player count limitations can be put into place though.

Larger maps with vehicles can put a twist on the game, but if the gameplay is to stick to infantry only, the maps can be a little more condensed to reduce the distance the teams have to go to make it to the enemy Jail.

I just wanted to throw this out there to see if there is enough interest in the Community to where TW may consider that this is a great idea for a Multiplayer game mode. As I've said before, a lot of games have overlooked this game mode and I'd really like to see it make a come back through RO2.

pows aren't actually held at the frontlines and i doubt he'll be combat ready right after you release him. most likely he'll be injured, disoriented malnourished or mistreated.

Soldiers killed in War also don't respawn in 5 seconds.

Anywho, in Liberation for MoHAA the switch to free the jailed players was close to the jail door, it wasn't on the jail door. A player would simply use their Use function key to throw the switch that opens the jail door.

Sounds like this could be an interesting slant on the game. It may take a while to get the balance right for RO but certainly worth looking into

This game is trying to authentically portray a real event. If you want a virtual version of a kid's game, maybe play quake or something.

Thanks.

Indeed, 15 MKb42's versus 15 AVT40's in firefight portrays the battle of stalingrad pretty well!!!!

I think it would be a great addition to standard firefight. I never heard of the gametype before but it sounds like something more chaotic than classic RO, while it is less routine as Firefight.

This Jail break gamemode sounds alot like games I would play as a kid. You know the type of games in real life when your outside ;)
Well, it resulted in massive campage, I don't mean that like some CoD noob would say it. I mean that it would jusn't not be fun.
Still, camping can be a verry effective strategy :)
Don't get me worng now, I woudl love to play this, but just not as an official game mode. As said before, a mutator or somthing.

I think you are right. Considering that one bullet pretty much kills you in Red Orchestra and all the benefits of cover, I would imagine both teams just camping in front of their jail, as attacking would be a pure suicide.

We call it Trench Warfare. This is not maybe a BAD game mode, but it just would not work with Red Orchestra. Team Fortress 2 maybe.

So "quake or something" type of games are only for kids? People over 18 never played those games, right? Kindly get off your high horse, sir.

Isn't there a gamemode just like this on CS:S?
Yes. In CS, UT and MoH: BT. Prolly in some other games as well, that I don't know about.
