I want to move my map closer to the 0,0,0, would dragging my map down fix any projectile issues? Also is there a known limit before projectiles behave funny?

The icon with black outline is the 0.0.0 point, all that's needed is for me to move my map so that icon is roughly centre correct?

yeah good question, with the limit. ^^. but i think putting your map-center to 0,0,0 is a good idea for performance at all. but if somethings better after, idk sorry.

correct, all aiming and shooting calculations are related back to the center. The further away you get from the center the more weapons will start to miss.

For me personally up to around 25000 uu distance things mostly seem to be somewhat ok. However once you get to 30000 or 40000 uu you really start noticing bullets missing on long range shots.

Select all and drag. Meanwhile pray. I could move mine with my three year old rig. Guess the 12 gig ram helped. *** my sons one year old gaming laptop cried for help and almost died doing it.

Lol, I could move all my stuff fine at first, but now it crashes every time I try. Spaehling is going to attempt it. Thanks for the replies

I managed to move it and avoid crashes, the distance from the top of the map to the 0.0.0 centre is 20,000 and 20,000 from bottom of map, 8,000 for each width, seems like a good spot. The way I avoided crashes was to select a quarter of my map at first, then slowly select more and more (this deselects your previous selection but it worked for me).

I am assuming that this is even more important when dealing with Tank maps? Long range Tank engagements would be affected by this too?

So the Terrain Icon needs to be in the dead center of the map for this to be 0,0,0?

For me the terrain icon shows up on one of the corners of the terrain. I then moved the terrain so the center of the map would be centered to 0.0.0. Is that what is going on here or am I misunderstanding everything?

I have a strange feeling that this is one of those things you should know when you start making a map.

LOL yes, I bet you are correct. I don't think that this is a big issue on "normal" sized maps. Medium to larger maps it would be noticeable perhaps? I did not center Saint Amand and have yet to hear any complaints about it...

Yeah you think it would, but I have personally never seen a beginner tutorial that mentions anything about this issue.

Starting at the center of the grid should be instinctive. It's a blank canvas.

All maps should be more or less centered if there is going to be any long range combat (sniping, tanks).

Say you make a terrain 512x512 with each grid of 128 units (similar to Gumrak). The terrain ends up being 65536x65536 unreal units (UU) square. So the terrain actor should be offset by 32768UU in the appropriate directions, making the center of the terrain 0,0 on X and Y. Don't worry so much about Z, it should be all positive to prevent sign swapping for calculating ballistics, just try to keep it ALL under 10,000UU so there's one less number place to carry. Remember to set your Z-kill in the world info to below your terrain.

And yes, you can have more than one terrain actor. It's the map's playable area that's important to be more or less centered. If you're off by less than 10,000UU I would't worry about it... much.

Ahh, Kita Jima, I have some good memories that map too, and some bad ones.
Probably one of my favorites, one of the more immersive maps, besides who doesn't like dense jungles and tunnels. :)
I also unfortunately modified the map for the 29th for a scrimmage before had I a falling out, due to numerous things, partially because of asinine leadership in some positions.

Had some great times fighting over the objective on the far left around half way (I?), and especially on the last set of objectives, particularly the one on the far right (J?). I once chased a Jap SL who was banzaing with a sword all the way from the back of J to the front with a sword that I picked up but got shot just before I got him. Never has my heart beat so fast :D nearly got the achievement for it too :(
