Hi guys,

I have installed windows 7 (64 bits), and which was my surprise when I started RO and i felt mouse lag while being in the menu, obviously also during gameplay :(, it only happens with Vsync on, buy I hate playing with Vsync off, so I need a solution.

Before you ask me I'll tell you that this didn't happen in exactly the same computer (same hardware) with Windows XP (64 bits) in fact now when I want to play I have to change to my old XP partition, I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers 2 days ago and nothing, also turned on Triple buffer... it's not a problem of mouse drivers, so what??????

my graphic card is a Nvidia 8800GT.Anybody with the same problem?????

thanks

you could try turning reduce mouselag on and off.
And enable trilinair filtering or tripple buffering (always forget which)

What mouse and mouse software are you guys running?
My G9 acted horribly when I went from 32bit Vista to 64bit Win 7.
New setpoint driver helped tremendously, but it still took some (a lot of) tweaking on my part. I'm still working on it.

Check your mouse manufacturers forums and see if there are others with the same problems. Logitech's G9 forum section was full of people with problems similar to mine. Their suggestions/fixes were a big help to me.

64bit Win7 seems to give a lot of people mouse trouble.

No luck guys, I have to play with VSync off, thing that disturbs me, the other alternative is to restart my computer and load the XP partition.

Answering to your question my mouse is a wireless logitech, very old, don't know the model, but it works perfectly on XP and W7 (not RO with Vsyn on).

VSync under Windows 7 causes mouse lag for me in all games, and is a widespread problem. The only way that I know of to eliminate it is to find a way of limiting your fps to 59.9 if you are running on a 60hz monitor. For example, if you have this problem in CS:S, you can set fps_max to 59.9 and the mouse lag should disappear. I don't think there is a console command in RO to do this.

There is a lot of debate about this issue on the internet, and there's no real definitive answer why this happens, or how best to tackle it, so unless either microsoft or the gpu manufacturers address it, you'll have to search to find any possible solutions. Messing with the render frames ahead option has been mentioned in the gpu control panel options as possibly helping the issue, and things like FPS Limiter might help if you can get them working, but it's probably a bug or new feature in 7 that's causing it.

It's not a Win 7 issue. With LCD's and their input lag you will have mouse lag with vsync. 120Hz screens don't lag that much, but there's no tearing without vsync so no point using it.

I suppose this is LCD + Unreal problem then cos not all games mouse lag with vsync? Though i've heard that ppl with XP dont suffer from this or at least those that i have asked about this...

Bump.
I am just getting annoyed too much from the screen tearing and would like to enable Vsync, but that introduces that damn mouse lag with Win7. Anyone found any solutions for this?

Same problem, same card etc. Same wonky mouse feeling in all games I try to use Vsync. However, I'm almost never bothered by screen tearing so I have given up trying myself.

For me RO is the only game where this happens. All other games don't introduce mouse lag with v-sync.

Well, I could add that all games I have tried that use the unreal engine, my Logitech mouse kinda has wonky behavior. RO, KF, AA, and the recent UDK also mess with my mouse speed until I tap the speed adjustments up and down (I have the G5).

I've just found this thread and I too suffer from the same issue on both my PC and Laptop running Windows 7 64-Bit. It's really frustrating and it definitely effects your game as by the time you've aimed at someone properly you will have been killed by another person who is no doubt NOT suffering from the lag.

So try if reducing your gfx driver's Max Frames To Render Ahead (nV)/Flip Queue Size (ATIAMD) settings, as Morello said?
