When you shoot and bolt KAR98K and load it again you will loose 1 bullet. That is why you must load 2 bullets instead of one. That's very realistic and I like. Anyone knows why this isn't working with Mosin-Nagant?

You're saying when you reload with a round bolted you have to put another in right? Do you have Auto-bolting on? Turn it off to fix it.

helps to actually read what he said I mean jeez it's two lines.

he said if you reload a k98 you'll lose an extra round from opening the breech. however if you do this with the mosin nagant this doesn't happen when it should.

You won't loose that bullet if you don't rebolt, fire (don't rebolt) reload, you open the bolt only once and not twice. As for the mosin nagant I am pretty sure it's a missing feature, because as long as there is a bullet in the bolt it should be ejected if you open it.

Just sticked a stripper clip of 5 inert demil rounds in my mosin nagant. The rounds came out just as with K98

You can however, half-open the bolt and thus not ejecting the round

From what i've heard that's the way the k98 bolt action mechanism work. I don't know if it's true or not but that's what i've been told.

On both rifles in real life, you can slide the bolt back partway to look without actually completing the ejection. In both cases it is almost impossible to really count the rounds in the magazine though.

But if you pull back to reload, yes on both, the round in the chamber should be ejected and require an extra one loaded.

Pulling the bolt back on any weapon (not revolvers) will make the weapon pull out any cartridge from the chamber (barrel) and throw it out of the weapon - usually the right side. It does not matter if the cartridge had been fired or not. It gets tossed out all the same. The Kar98 works in the game but the Mosin-Nagant rifle is bugged. It skips extracting and ejecting the cartridge in the chamber, if it happens to be done during a reload attempt - but works when not trying to reload.

Kar98 in-game example:

  1. 5 round magazine loaded and ready.
  2. Fire once.
  3. Cycle the bolt-action; extracts and ejects the now empty fired cartridge and chambers the next. 4 remain.
  4. Press "R" to reload. Bolt is pulled back; the live round in the chamber is extracted and ejected. 3 remain in the weapon.
  5. The player avatar puts in 2 cartridges into the magazine by hand; cycles the bolt forward again, feeding the top cartridge from the magazine into the chamber.
  6. Ready to fire. 5 in the weapon.

Mosin-Nagant in-game example:

  1. 5 round magazine loaded and ready.
  2. Fire once.
  3. Cycle the bolt-action; extracts and ejects the now empty fired cartridge and chambers the next. 4 remain.
  4. Press "R" to reload. Bolt is pulled back; the live round in the chamber is NOT extracted and ejected. 4 remain in the weapon.
  5. The player avatar puts in 1 cartridge into the magazine by hand; cycles the bolt forward again, feeding the top cartridge from the magazine into the chamber.
  6. Ready to fire. 5 in the weapon.
It is a bit immersion breaking and something that irks me about using the Mosin-Nagant rifles. I hope it gets patched out soon.
