Please, just try those servers. You'll [...] have a more intensive in war feeling.
maybe...but there's one thing I hate about these no DMs servers is that you can still see who killed you...why not make it with no DMs AT ALL?

That said, I think that having no death message kills the fun and is boring...but that's just me.

On the one hand, I like having no deathmessages because they really do add to the flavor of the game.

On the other, though, it makes it impossible to know if you actually killed someone. Trying to learn how to play with the boltaction rifle on a noDM/realism server is nearly impossible.

Actually, I tell a lie. Whenever I'm in a no deathmessage enabled server, the only thing that really happens is that I hit tab to bring up the scoreboard every time i shoot at someone to see if my score increased and thusly I made the kill.

So really what's the point of having no death messages when I can just have a look at the scoreboard? I think a window popping up in your face every time you fire a bullet is even less realistic than seeing an indicator in the upper righthand corner.

Haha we run a score hider so you can't check your score. another quirk to hiding score is it makes players forget about getting a ton of frags and instead trying to work with eachother to win, since you cant be score it doesnt matter who got what.

this is a realism game, DM's should be off by default anyway

@inforcer person:so you know if you've been tked

Oh hush...

Red Orchestra is an action game. While its emphasis on realism is refreshing, it's still far far, far from the simulation category. Go master a good flight or driving simulator and then you'll see that Red Orchestra's "realism" is really only intended as an alternative to the psychotic bunnyhopping frag-fests like UT. It was never intended to be a full simulation and it never will be one.

That having been said, this insane vendetta against the scoreboard and death messages has got to stop. In my opinion, death messages add to the game, and I hate having them off. Whenever I fire off a long shot with my rifle, there's that moment of anticipation in between the shot and when I look at the death messages, and then the inevitable excitement or disappointment when I see whether I got the kill or not. That's probably my favorite part of the game. Complaining about the death messages not being realistic, especially when there are so many larger liberties taken with reality, just seems incredibly childish to me.

P.S. : It's not necessary to run a score-hider on the 11.SS server. It already lags so bad you might find out if you got the kill a half hour later... if you're lucky and it didn't drop the shot completely...

Eh, I have never had my server lag. If your playing from cambodia, perhaps. Wheres your fucking server, asshole?

I've played WW2OL since January 02, I think i know what a simulation is. Ive been playing IL2 for a year or so aswell. Just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean you have to attack me. Read what I fucking said, I said realism game, not simulation. Its a blatent contradiction of calling the game realistic to have some things that this game includes in it. If you want to rack up kills, go play cod2. With your attitude frankly you'd fit in well there.

Ok 9th SS Panzer Division will give no or partial DM's a try, we shall see how the feedback is.

SS-Panzer Regiment 9 - Armor Maps Server
70.87.92.226:7765

I will be sure to stop by -- DM's was the only thing that really irked me about 9.SS servers

Wow... Just the kind of eloquence you'd expect from someone who is proud to put the letters "SS" in their name. I need not argue with anything you said.

Death messages serve a purpose. Taking them out is lame.

Nobody is forcing you to play on servers with dm's off, the majority of servers have them on so it's not like finding one will be hard. Personally I find that dm's off increases the immersion and realism a great deal, instead of checking the top right corner for kills you will actually keep your eyes concentrated on the enemy to try and see if you actually killed him or not. And there is no way to magically know if you actually cleared that room with a nade or not.

The DBDUK server have the setting at on_death, making it so you will only see who killed you.

Haha, that has nothing to do with it. When someone flames me I flame back, it has nothing to do with tags I use when im gaming.

It's the most realistic to date, but a realism game? Yeah..whatever. The "no-scoreboard" people are those that tend to never get to the top of said scoreboard and somehow feel slighted by it.
