I think if that would be the case, the LAW might as well outright kill you as soon as you touch it.
Blast radius at the size of alaska + completely invisible obstacles = dead.

They ought'a be fully invisible. They barely pose a thread as is, and would give people even more of a reason to play Commando.
I'm not sure if it's necessary for them to be fully invisible but they need to be significantly harder to detect. I wouldn't mind them being completely invisible though.

Demos would need to be more careful, yes but they would get used to the new stalker eventually and aim accordingly. Shooting the ceiling for example because the radius will kill the specimens anyway.

here to kill your monster
Conversely, I recall one time when I was able to turn down all the settings to "crap" in OpenGL mode and the stalkers were shimmering textureless metallic instead of having the invisible effect... I haven't bothered to try to replicate it since, but does anyone out there know what I'm talking about?

i have experienced exactly this when manually playing with settings in the game Neotokio (source) which also has a similar cloak effect.
By reducing the quality of the effect you end up stumbling onto a cheat basically.
I agree with the shadows, and while we are on about the stalker i would make a suggestion about how they are totalled for commando perk.

I don't get why they only count if you use the assault rifles, irrespective of class, when surely thier relationship to the commando is the fact they can be seen.
I would have thought better to have them count if killed as a commando with any weapon, or to be more class-specific (and difficult) whilst they are cloaked.
I don't have a vested interest - i'm above the lev 6 limit, it just makes more sense to me.

If your graphics card doesn't support shaders they'll just appear white (or some shade between white and black).

Why stop there, why not make their attackers stronger as well as give them more HP?

Am I the only one having huge problems with these Stalkers? If I'm concentrated at the other ZED's they'll easily pass by my eye, unspotted. Maybe this is because I'm playing without any shadows at all.

So get rid of the Stalker shadows as suggested and it would be fine I guess..

:D

My idea:
Fix stalker's hits - when they atack, they stop, so you can easilly back off avoiding any damage. It was already proved many times.
Second thing to do: make them totally inbisible, with no shadow at all - if they are far away. You can see them even from distance, that isn't right what should be like.
Last fix: Make commando's perk really usefull against them. Others can see stalkers as well as the commando can! Maybe raise the commando's seeing-stalkers-distance? Or maybe make others see them even worse?
Actually, I got a little thought over about them - why not make them COMPLETLY invisible UNLESS you use your flashlight, to see outlines?
And what about making stalkers strafing on sides on double speed? That way they'd avoid much easier. Also, I suggest removing their tapes and exposing the beauty :D After all, would be a nice differ from Siren's hangy meatspins

I'll repost my post on the beta forums, since it belongs more to this one than there.

I think the stalker should be invisible even attacking, turn off her shadow too.

Then make her visible (not the red texture) to everyone if a commando is nearby according to his perk bonus. That should make this part of the commando perk more meaningful.

If they were properly impossible to see without help of a Commando, you're effectively either forcing a team to have a Commando to have an eye on each player, or you're giving each Stalker a free hit; which would be a tad unfair if you ask me.

Though fair enough, they could be a little harder to spot, but I wouldn't say completely invisible.

After playing a game of suicidal I take back anything I said (did I say anything?), the stalker is hard enough to see as it is when with groups of other specimens.

EPIC: Shooting Law at FP who is far away just to realise you are dead since Stalker stood in way invisibling around XD
Same with grenade launchers and grenades :D

Add 100% invicible Stalkers. (only Commando can see em as nowadays)

Also add Thermal Googles in game as gadgets, can be used only with LAW. Can be buy from Trader for extra price.

LAW problem solved, also very cool to play. You must use Googles manually, and you cant aim with those, but you use em to check situation before shooting.

Also, if Googles are too hard to add, add Thermal Sight to LAW as a gadget, extra price for that, so you can also use LAW as normal, but theres a risk.
