I would love a WWI mod, but I think it would be really tough to pull off without it being boring or frustrating. It wouldn't be very rewarding to play a map for an hour (super condensed battle length) and then end the game having moved up a couple hundred meters (if that much). Or, maybe that would be the most epic thing ever...

Anyway, it would be next to impossible to make charging and enemy trench over no man's land fun. Soooooo many people would complain about "balance" (lol).

Perhaps if the player count was just massive, charges could feel realistic and be survivable. Artillery and mortars could also have a larger role, maybe even with some player controlled stuff. Also, tanks :)

Now I'm going to be tortured by this.. The possible awfulness negates the possible awesomeness so perfectly... There must be a way...

Yeh WW1 i always felt would be great. Hard to know how it would work with such static warfare....although towards the end of WW1 it was beginning to get a bit more fluid with storm trooper.

I always have imagined the best game would be a WW1 FPS with a built in RTS commander setup... it is diificult to explain.... btu would be similar to the campaign mode onRO2.

But what would happen commander has control of reinforcments by rail (spawn points) and arttillery coupled with fog of war..... they get to decide where the other 32 players have to attack from and when into no mans land, but the players do the actual fighting. of course it is easy imagined than done. Hopefully the guys doing IRon Europe will make something sweet.

I've been saying this for years. I truly think that if done right a Korean War mod would be brilliant. I can't think of any game or mod that has been done the Korean War. I know it's sorta going away from World Wars and out of EU... But its never been done (to my knowledge) and because of that it might be a good project for someone to take on.

WW1 would be great, love the old rifles and stuff - as long as it focuses on the battles that were more fluid and not just trench warfare. Apparently the eastern front was much more dynamic and had some interesting (and largely unknown) battles.

I would also absolutely love a Spanish Civil War mod, the kind of equipment they used would be cool to play with, those little old tanks and old rifles etc.

I also like the idea of a WW1 mod. Played an old mod for hl1 called the trenches few years ago, too bad it died out pretty quickly. It was a great WW1 shooter, and the trench battles were AWESOME. Hope to see something similiar in iron europe mod.

If you are looking for a free WW1 game, I remember there was a WW1 game in the making some time ago called Verdun. Haven't checked in years what's going on with that game.

I don't think WW1 would be very good because of the style of fighting. Maybe some of the battles in 1914 before it bogged into trench warfare and some of the fluid Eastern front battles would be OK. Otherwise it's march across cratered open ground, into barbed wire and machine gun fire. Artillery was pretty much preplanned and not on call so the major role of commanders would be nil. Did they even have smoke grenades readily available then?

And for Mods I would like to see:

1. Western Front (and Norway) 1940
2. Poland 1939
3. Soviet invasion of Manchukuo
4. Korean War
5. War in Finland/Continuation War
