Get over it. It's nothing to make a big deal out of, or any deal at all.
Well it is important to point out because it totally describes Activision's retarded attitude towards PC gamers over the last few years, beginning with MW2 when they decided a console matchmaking service would work just fine on PC. Oh and that keyboard/mouse and graphics settings were "special features" or "back-of-the-box bullet points", in the words of Mr. Gibson ...

It's clear that Activision merely sees the PC platform as the smallest console money-maker behind the PS3 and treats its customers accordingly.

It doesn't really change anything though. It's not really like them saying the PC is a "console" suddenly pushed things over the line.

They sort of already did that with the lack of dedicated servers, flippant remarks about how they're handling the PC side of things since the days of MW2, pricing, and more. Comparatively, the "console" thing is quite minor and should just be something you shrug off now and think nothing about since it's expected from them anymore./

Absolutely agreed, but as often in life, the small things are often the most obvious. You can argue for hours about Activision not really respecting the PC as a platform, it's after all just an opinion. But a tiny piece of text asking you to select your console is... oh well, just evidence you can't really argue about. It just perfectly reflects the entire mindset of Activision in one single sentence similar to "PC specific features such as Mouse and Keyboard support".

Referring to Lemon's post, it's minor compared to their other faults but I still don't mind seeing it pointed out.

Calling PC a console > Calling PC configuration settings special features > Leaving out dedicated servers > Shipping with crippling bugs > Shipping with major balance issues > Charging for content that used to be free > Releasing a new game that is essentially an expansion for full price > Charging a subscription for standard content*

Where does it end? It's a chain of terrible faults and the less you care about one link, the less likely you're willing to criticize the next link. I say blast them all.

*Disclaimer: I haven't bought a CoD game since the first one which I dropped in about a week after RO beta 1.0 came out. Besides playing briefly at friend's places, I just follow the franchise closely since it's been insanely popular and influences the industry.

The PC ISN'T A CONSOLE! You can also use it to write papers, create spreadsheets and presentations, you can customize your hardware, blahblahblah... Who cares? You're supposed to play Call of Duty on it and as such it's nothing but a gaming console for the purpose of that act.
I guess they could have said "platform" instead of "console" because technically it would have been more accurate but come on...

I know we love being pedants, and poking fun, but really - it's not a console by definition.

Zips is right though, it's not like we should have expected anything different...this train's a'rollin and we're not going to stop it.
