[Mod] Portal turret

I would love to see this guy whitelisted, but even apart from its glitching, its just too OP in the game. takes out trash like nothing.

I bet editing him a bit would give good results, for example limit ammo (force reloads?) and such.

As for ghost thing - yeh I know it's silly but hell, why not do it anyway :D

How do I create a new turret by extending your existing one.
for example I just want to override the buller type to mac10 instead and allow for both turrets.

I am looking at the sources bbut I suppose I need to rename quite a bit? Any written info/guide that you can provide is much appreciated.

Although the turret is a great mod, the people on my server have the tendency of simply buying 1 turret and standing behind it for the entire map, what i would like to know if there is a possibility of supplying the turret with a limit on shots it may release and the necessity to buy ammunition for it after a certain period. This would benefit on those who level up using turrets and have the tendency of afk'ing during the rounds.

Thats my main gripe with turrets. I'd like to have it so a player has to weld it (ie use it) for it to fire, or at least say, lose health when not being welded, so a player needs to keep an eye on it.

Make a .ini file, and have the turret able to be knocked over :D that will fix that problem :p

Or just, y'know, kick people.
Seriously though, it would be nice to stop generalizing that all engineers are baddies and AFK 24/7. A good engineer actually steps up to the front line when necessary, namely with a lightsaber and AR2.
The turrets are great meat shields and trash killers. Hardly anything more. In the absence of some dedicated medics and zerks, its about the only survival tactic on that server. Without them, we would (and do) get wrecked. Not to mention the general lack of teamwork, communication and general knowledge of how to murder carpet which is in great quantity on that server.

But yeah - off that soapbox. Great mod and thank you for your work op.

This is where my awesome Tank perk comes in handy on my server. He's all about taking the damage but to balance, limiting his damage. I personally do not like the idea of letting the turrets take the damage as people get really lazy and forget how to actually play without them.

I love how this turret taunts the specimens and talks as if no one gives a damn (including itself). The animations are smooth, the sound is clear, everything it does is easily recognisable to the players. The stationary part I have no problem with but so many people have done placement fails with it where it just falls over and blows up. Waste of cash and now everyone is laughing at you...all 11 people on my server ( :D ). The other thing is that predicting the place it will drop can be hard too. An example of this is maybe on a map like Heresy. Now try to place it at the top of the map but onto the but slightly lifted, you know on the edges of the area. Now i've tried about 6 times to do it and have failed every time (yeah im not a turret person for that map, more the sniper person).

OVerall it's hell lot of fun and i'll give it the 10/10 it deserves.

well i did this simply because engi's do afk. We were fine without them before, there was a lot more teamwork. We also survived alot better, i want to balance out the engi perk so its not over powered. I have kicked many people who have in fact gone afk for long periods of time, all they do is go complain on the forums, and then i show them the fraps i captured of them going afk for 2-3 rounds while me and others call their name.

Adding a limited amount of rounds for turret would solve the afk a bit, engi's would have to go buy amo when they run out.

The argument that no other perks are capable of leveling due to engineers is complete bullcrap. I've seen numerous Demos, Firebugs, Sharps and even Commandos (holy crap) hitting 16+ at astronomical rates. The engineer is more of a support perk than the support specialist itself. One huge problem is definitely the lack of perk benefits other perks get, namely zerker. A level 6 vanilla zerk gets about the same benefits as does a level 25+ zerk on that server. Its pretty sad. Engineer is PART of the problem, it is not THE problem.

The only dilema with your reasoning is you play engineer and no other perk alone. I am aware you use other weapons along with your turrets. But have you ever seen how many blue engineers we have? we have about 20, now compare that to each of those blue engineers and how long they have been leveling that class? about a month. Thus compare that to other perks, I could go into detail but you wont be satisfied until you are correct. And since i pretty much have everything i needed figured out on how to balance the perk system Im satisfied.

Hi there, I am new here and i want to ask someone: How to make this addon work without CUSTOM MUTATOR ? - For example i have downloaded minigun from workshop and i have added it to the System folder and in "Host server -> Mutators" i can turn it to the right side manually. I want to do this with this turret but i don
